I'm buying a used car from private seller in NSW but live in SA?

Hi,

As my title suggests I'm buying a used car from a private seller in NSW and live in South Australia. What papers do I require to have the signed over into my name. My dad said something about a pink slip, but I'm not 100% sure on what I actually require. I know in SA you require the back of the renewal registration form to be signed of by myself and the personnel selling the car? Cn someone help me please?

Thanks

Mandy

Transfer of reg form signed by seller and buyer, and a written receipt proving you have bought the vehicle.

The vehicle needs to be taken to Regency Park for a vehicle identification inspection within 14 days of purchase.

This allows for transfer to SA registration and new number plates.

As NSW cars require yearly roadworthy inspections, they need inspection forms, (pink slips.)

This doesn't apply in SA, in fact you can buy, or bring the car in unregistered if you want, ( you need to get an SA day permit.)

I buy all my cars from NSW, but I make sure they have a new roadworthy, the last one I bought nearly 3 years ago, and have had no problems with it.

    Good luck.
