What is your opinion about the Giants?
In my mind, there are only two more moves the Giants need to make in order to have the assurance of making it to the playoffs.
1. They need to sign a catcher for one year, preferably Torealba, while Buster finishes getting ready. Maybe they can even split time.
2. They need to sign Jermaine Dye for one year. This would provide the power that they are missing in their lineup while their minor leaguers are still seasoning in the minors.
In my mind this should be how the batting order/lineup should look:
Freddy Sanchez 2B
Edgar Rentaria SS
Jermaine Dye RF
Pablo Sandoval 3B
Mark DeRosa LF
Travis Ishikawa 1B
Aaron Rowand CF
Yorvit Torealba C
Tim Lincecum
Jonathan Sanchez
Matt Cain
Barry Zito
Madison Bumgardner
What are your opinions on what the Giants should do this offseason and during the season?

I think they will finish in second place in 2010 behind the Dodgers in the NL West.

Well, I would like the Giants to trade for Dan Uggla, and if that means giving up Jonathan Sanchez, so be it. No doubt, Sanchez has talent, but he's inconsistent and I'm not convinced he can provide us great outings throughout a season on a consistent basis. But, if weren't able to trade for Uggla, a Jermaine Dye, or Adam Laroche I wouldn't mind. Torrealba would be a okay signing, and could help out Buster Posey, but I feel like Posey has earned himself the starting job at C. How much more time does he need? He spent all 4 years at Florida St and 2 years in the minors...he's ready to play. He just hasn't been given the opportunity.
I don't think Travis Ishikawa should be the starting 1st baseman for the Giants. He proved last year he's at best a backup, nothing more, nothing less. Good defensive player, terrible offensively. People forget Ishikawa was called up a few years ago and did nothing to help the team. If we were to keep Sanchez, he would be the 3rd in the rotation, with Matt Cain right behind Lincecum.
Hopefully once we sign another bat or two I think we are capable of competing for a division title. Can't wait for the upcoming season.

No, I do NOT want Dye, we have enough old guys way past their prime.
They need a bat. A big bat. Like Gonzales from the Padres or Fielder from the Brewers. They can make a trade. If they do not get a big bat, it will be another wasted season of great pitching down the drain. They cannot win with that awful offense and Derosa was just another waste of money.

picking up derosa was a very good move for you guys though
but i think youre too cheap to land dye

aren't the giants planning to play derosa at the three bagger and move pablo to first though?

With that pitching, they could not only win, but run away with, the NL West.

You're right about what they need. The guys you mention would help. They've got to get more offense.
