Would you convert to another religion for money?

Or at least pretend to?

Also, would you offer people money to convert to your religion / non-religion?

Update:

And be honest!

Update 2:

I'm not in any such business - just wanted to hear your opinions.

Bro, First time ,I will say "No."

Also I can use the sentence like, "I would rather die than convert" or "My religion is above all" etc.

    But let's see it practically.

Let's take an example in India.

A father is very sad because, his child is suffering of any ailment................he doesn't have the bucks for his treatment........just then an agent of a Missionary comes and tells that his child can be cured provided that you will have to accept...............

There is neither food at a home..........nor bucks to buy..........old parents of yours are starving.......and then you are told that you will be given food......provided that........

    what will you do?

Hunger is above all. Necessity overpowers all ethics and morals.

I can say that I won't convert............just because with the blessings of Krishna I am living my life happily.......I am happy with my life...........but what about those who are in severe problems...and not so spiritually developed..........what will they do?.....trust me they are very vulnerable...I have personally seen this.....look how...

About nine years ago when I didn't have anything and I was just struggling for my livelihood......I used to give tuition at a home........I was studying in class 12th and teaching a girl of 10th class.

The father of that gal really liked me a lot watching this that I am teaching at this age. He was the man of principle and Kshatriya by caste. His house was filled with the religious things of Hinduism. I taught there for 3 years and then I had left coz I've started my own business. Every thing was very good there. He didn't have any children except that girl. Suddenly he got paralyze attack.......and things have suddenly changed.......all of his savings had vanished in his treatment and he had also lost his job........the person who was his master was so ruthless that he had given him the notice to vacate the house within a month.

Everything has changed there. After an year, I happened to go there and I was surprised to see all the scenario. The gal was fitting the accessories of files in them and father was laying on the bad......The picture of Jesus was hung over the place where there was the place of Hindu deities.

First of all, I said that it was very good to read about Jesus along with Hinduism...........but later I came to know that he is being helped by somebody provided that.................Moreover his family was against all this but...........the word "provided that" has become heavier than all this.

My happiness has become anger. How can person snatch the religious rights of others by giving some financial support.

I have seen many Hindu Charitable that help the people like Muslims, Sikhs etc. without any condition. Then why our people being converted with the help of money?

This event had really touched my heart.......I have made up my mind to do something for that family..but that time I wasn't himself financially stable enough........First of all I scolded the father of the gal.........he has realized his mistake and immediately asked his gal to through out the picture.......I told him not to do so.......I told him that I am not against any religion but if he wanted to accept anything, just accept due to love, not because of money...........and not leaving by his own religion.......So the picture wasn't thrown but kept aside......I also told him to read the Bible and learn good things because there is no harm in this but forgetting your own religion and accept another just for money is not a wise act.

I also assured him that I would do something.

but I got so busy and helpless that I couldn't do anything.......moreover I came to know that he is not getting help from that angel anymore because he didn't accept................

I was filled with guilt because a person has lost a help in his hard time just because of me....so I couldn't go there...........about six month later, I got a call from an unknown number.....and it was him.....I was told that he is ok then and started a small business with the help of his daughter and he wanted to meet me immediately........I went there and he told me after that event, he saw the worst time of his life but the guy didn't come to help him.......but he had recovered lil bit and started a small shop of files by selling some gold he had.

He asked me what to do with the "pic."

I told him that every good idea is wholeheartedly accepted in Hinduism so he should not throw the pic. I also told him read more of that person and learn from him with out following him blind cloth just because of money.

So you can understand how the circumstances handle our beliefs.

    Edit:-

Buzzbe, thanks, you understand the problem Indians are facing. It is very good to help the poor and the needy and many religious institutes are doing this but blackmailing the people for converting their religion on the power of this is really immoral and this sort of conversion will only add the number of some purchased souls.

Trust me it is not a story.........It is a genuine personal experience of mine.

Leaving Islam is one thing - joining another religion is another thing. What is your problem? You just want to leave Islam or you want to join some religion you didn't tell us about? Don't expect good advice if you don't give specifics. Allah said in the Quran that there is no compulsion in religion - therefore you are free to do what you want. My advice is to stop seeking help online and find some real people to talk to. Discuss the specifics of your problem. Take responsibility for your actions as a mature adult and live with the consequences of your actions as a mature adult. Finally, remember that Allah is the Most Merciful and the Most Generous - anything can be forgiven EXCEPT associating a partner to Him (like Jesus). What proof are you looking for anyway? Maybe you need to ask yourself what the purpose of religion is in the first place.

  • How much money. I could convert under an assumed name. Maybe come up with alternate identities and disguises so that I can convert over and over again so I can take the money and run, then donate a large sum of it the Richard Dawnkins Foundation.

Sure, for money I'd be willing to tell you I believe. However I'm not interested in converting people.

I wouldn't convert anyone with money, but I would pretend to convert for money.

I am totally touched by the story of Crimson.

    Such matters should never happen.

In christian life Conversion means ........from bad life to good life , we preach this to all human.

In fact it is convert the mind not a religion. But people have religious freedom.

The preacher in the story could be a fake. He could have collected millions of money in and outside India in the name of the poor man.

    ............

    ............

Crimson....I understand and told this to my family members.

Next week I will talk about this matter in our Ladies Association.

You are hurt, may God heal your heart.

No. Then you aren't believing in your religion are you?

Plus I'm fine being Buddhist, and if other people don't want to then who am I to come between them and their beliefs?

  • friend,

I am a HINDU who follow Sanatana Dharma,

I believe and follow Bhagavath geeta,

My Dharma is Parama dharma to me.

Similarly for others their Dharma`s or faiths are their parama dharmas.

One shall never desert the Swadharma ( own faith ) for any thing like money or house or employment etc lurings.

Those who change the faith of their own, will lose swadharma and the other (para) dharma too.

Are you by any chance in this business by mistake? Please refrain and follow your own faith faithfully.

If you're secure in your convictions, then you believe that your soul depends on them. Can you put a price on your soul?
