What age is it ok for a female child to run her first 5K.?

She wants to try one but im not sure if it may be unhealthy for a child her age. BTW she is completely healthy and about average height and weight for her age. Thanks

A 5K....Probably between ages 12-14? The child won't get hurt from it, but it's just do they have the mental strength to do it...Walking in a distance race is embarrassing and could hurt the confidence of the child if she isn't mature enough to realize when her body can't take anymore.... Basically middle school aged kids is when they should consider it...

First, has she trained, since you don't mention if she runs or participates in other sports. I would say a fifth grader could give it a shot, and certainly grades six to eight is quite appropriate, since some middle school events may deviate from the typical cross-country distance of two miles for a 5k. But being prepared is vital.

theres a program in my district that takes kids from 3rd to 5th grade, so 8-11 to do 5k, and even the 3rd graders do really well! so i'd say maybe 7?

I did my first one during the summer and I was 16, based on what you said I guess it sounds ok. The youngest was 9-10.

I ran my first half-marathon at 10. 5K ain't much in the long run, ha ha. I don't see the problem, unless she is 3. You failed to mention her age.

thirteen years old, as long as she has the proper training
