Yes you will need a passport. Go to the nearest Post Office that offers passport assistance and order it now so you have it when you are ready to go.

You need a passport to travel anywhere outside the US except for Puerto Rico. If you're traveling by plane they will check your passport when you board. If you're driving then im not exactly sure if they check or not. My friend went recently and said they didnt check his passport but did check the passport of the guy in the car ahead of him.

Yes.And most of all you will need a passport to get back into your country of origin.
