Who was the first explorer to circumvent the globe ?

Ferdinand Magellan was famous for circumnavigating the earth, though he was killed toward the end of his journey. When he landed on Cebu, he converted the Chief from their native religion to Christianity. When other islands heard of this, they began a war against this decision. It was in this war, that Magellan was killed in 1521. What remained of his crew returned to Spain on his behalf in 1522. He also discovered the Pacific Ocean which he named. Ferdinand Magellan was also known for being able to put down a mutiny on his ship using strength and wit.

NO ONE "circumvented" the globe: "to avoid or get around something; to bypass; to surround or besiege; to outwit or outsmart." The word is "circumnavigate". That is easy to remember because you "navigate" the oceans. Magellan was the first. He lived 1480 – 1521

quite possibly it was Zheng He- a chinese admiral. He- and his fleet- certainly sailed off the coast of South America and Africa. No one really knows if he sailed around cape Horn

Sebastian del Cano, Antonio Pigafetta and 17 other sailors were certainly the ones who made it around the world. they were part of Magellan's expedition. Magellan however was killed in the Phillipines- so he did not really make it around the world
