Where is the weather unusually warm right now?
Much of the northern hemisphere is experiencing unusually cold weather, but the planet's average temperature doesn't vary by more than a tiny fraction of a degree from week to week, so where is all the heat? I tried to find a temperature anomaly map but can only find archives, nothing that shows current temperature anomalies. Any links would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Thanks for responses so far. What I'm trying to find is a GLOBAL map of CURRENT temperature anomalies. The BBC video is helpful, as are some of the other links. I wish there was a website that had a simple color-coded anomaly map like the ones that can be found for last year.
Whoa, Keith P, that's exactly what I was looking for! Greenland is off-the-charts overheated along with the entire Arctic region as you said.
Thanks for that link, I'll bookmark that site so I can follow the global trends. It's pathetic that you got a pair of thumbs-down for posting data that make the deniers upset. They probably think that Al Gore invented those temperature readings.

Much of Southern Australia is quite warm at the moment, Adelaide is currently at ~ 38c (100F) and is expected to hit 40c over the weekend the temps in a band from Perth to Melbourne are in the mid 30c these are coastal cities it will be far warmer inland.
In terms of global averages the U.S. (-Alaska) and Australia are quite close in size at ~8m km², so the area of your snow storms matches pretty well the area we have in heatwave or quite warm. But as the total surface area of the Earth is 510m km² and the total land surface area is 148m km², the U.S. is a quite small percentage of either of these figures.
This is only regional weather, but so is the weather in the U.S. few deniers can (or want to) understand this basic concept.

Hasn't Australia been suffering from the excessive heat? And there has to be warm air heading toward the North Pole to replace the cold air that has been sweeping south. You might have trouble thinking of the pole as being excessively warm but you have to compare it to the usual average for this time of year.

There is currently a deep low mid north Pacific bringing warm weather from the south and precipitation to the US Northwest and Pacific Canada
James, that's some pretty intense and imaginative misinformation you have there.

To James E:
Volcanoes are melting the Ice! Hahahahaaa!!
Bro Is that the new theory (lie) that skeptics have to explain the melting ice caps?
I'm laughing my a$$ off!
It's funny they always come up with a new ridiculous theory (lie) after we contradict it.

Greenland and the artic ocean are being warmed by a flock of undersea volcano's that are warming the water. As usual warmers use propaganda without checking to find the scientific reason for conditions. Check some of the data about volcanic activity on Gakkel artic mid ocean ridge..
