Can I lose my salvation?
if so, in what way? I believe in God, Jesus' resurrection, and that he died for my sins. But what does that really mean?

Can a Believer "Lose" His Salvation?
Or Stated More Accurately, Can He Forfeit It?
"Has God indeed said...Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away."? (Luke 8:13)
The scripture clearly teaches BOTH the sovereignty of God AND the free will of men. To deny this is irrational, and must be caused by something other than reason based on scriptural precepts.
The scriptural position is that a person who is saved can forfeit that salvation. The bible teaches those at highest risk of forfeiting their salvation are those who are newly saved, and those who continue on in known disobedience, after being born again.
The elect are those whom God chose, whom God foresaw would both trust in His Son AND who would endure or persevere in the faith given them until the end of their physical life, or the return of Jesus.
Those whose hearts are seeking the Lord with all that is in them, should have no concern about "losing" their salvation. Nor should they have any concern about forfeiting their salvation.
Salvation cannot be lost, but it can be forfeited - this is the nature of covenants in the bible. The bible no where guarantee's someone that salvation once received cannot be turned away from or forfeited by the individual that possesses it.
Receiving salvation involves man's will, and not works. Forfeiting salvation involves man's will, and not works. In the same way the Lord did not force His salvation on anyone, He neither forces anyone to remain in the covenant.
Now there are Some who have answered that believe in what is Known as a Greasy Grace, Liscense to Sin, Hand me down Theology That has come from the Mouth Of satan Himself, These people are decieved, They may believe in jesus and that He died for their sins, well Even the demons believe that yet are they saved ?
Matthew 7:21 also speaks of those types of people, saying Not everyone who say's to me Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my Father that is in heaven.
Thier are Numerous Scriptures that prove that salvation is Conditional upon Our Following Jesus
Here is one such that indicates salvation can be forfieted.
Hebrews 6:4-6, [4] "For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, [5] and have tasted the good scripture and the powers of the age to come, [6] and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame.
This is one of the classic proof texts for forfeiting one's salvation. Most Calvinistic theologians have made this passage fit into their theology by claiming that the passage does not refer to believers. There are, however, some significant problems with attempting to do this. First, the text clearly says, "it is impossible to renew them again to repentance", the "them" referring to those who "have fallen away". If the Calvinistic theologians interpretation is correct, then the text says that it is impossible for those who never actually became believers (repented, believed and thereby received the Holy Spirit), to repent and become believers. This seems to be inconsistent with God's mercy (2 Pet. 3:9; Matt. 11:28). It also seems to contradict the entire 18th chapter of Ezekiel, particularly verses 21-23. In addition, Jesus is clearly the object of the "elementary teachings" (verses 5:11 & 6:1), so saying that this passage refers to unbelieving Jews really stretches the concept of consistent interpretation.
Now Many who disagree with this wil use Certain Scriptures to prove Unconditional Security, Lets look at one as That is all I have spac for on this format
They will use for example John 10:27-29 (read it)
Now, Verse 27 says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life (i.e. those who "hear" and "FOLLOW"), and they shall never perish." Notice first Jesus’ disciples hear His voice and follow Him. If one demands that this verse "proves unconditional security", one has a problem since since the promise of the gift of eternal life is conditioned upon "follow[ing]" Jesus! Sadly, many times I find that those who cling most fervently to the doctrine of "unconditional security" oftentimes live lives that look the least like what a true disciple of Jesus is called to be. If one is not living as Jesus commands, one may want to consider if one is actually following him. Remember, Jesus says, "If you love me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15); "But why do you call me 'Lord, Lord' and do not do the things that I say?"(Luke 6:46-47); "Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' shall enter the Kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of my Father in heaven" (Matt. 7:21). And we know that the will of the Father is for us to be like - ACT LIKE - the Son.
Then, in verse 28, Jesus says, "...and I give eternal life to them..." - who is the "them" that Jesus is referring to? Those who follow Him! And do those who follow Him have to make choices to follow Him in living a sacrificial life? Yes. Does scripture teach that one can choose to be comfortable in the world and enjoy "unconditional security"? The scripture says no (Luke 14:27; Acts 2:45 & 4:32; John 17:17&19; 1 Pet. 1:14-16; 1 Pet. 2:11; 2 Pet. 1:10; John 17:14; Luke 6:22&26).
Second, if one wants to define verse 28 as a description of the biblical doctrine of election. the bible teaches that election is when God - who lives in eternity and can see all things past, present and future - elects those who, after repentance and belief (being born again), persevere in the faith! Let me say that again, God elects those to eternal life who He foreknows will choose to truly love Him after being born again, by following his Son and who do not choose to disown him through a life bringing reproach upon His name! This, as stated earlier, is the biblical definition of "election" and this definition handles both the passage in review, and Rom. 8:29-30 quite nicely. And the "My sheep" Jesus is referring to in this passage is the elect.

Salvation is a free gift from God and I don't believe you can lose it. All you have to do is accept it. You say that you believe but have you made Him Lord of your life? If you haven't then consider praying to Him and asking Him to show you how to pray. Jesus said that you must be born again to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This means that the old nature dies and the new nature starts within you as the new regenerated person that Christ has called us to be. It sounds difficult but it really isn't. Just pray and ask and He will answer you. God Bless. :)

It means that you believe that Christ was FULLY man AND FULLY God at the the same time. Christ came to earth as a human baby to die for our sins. He died the worst death imaginable. He was beaten, and horribly disfigured, then nailed to a cross, in between two thieves, to take all of the sin of the world on His shoulders. He was put in a borrowed tomb, then rose again three days later, exactly as He had said!
You can not lose your salvation. "Nothing can separate us from the love of God." When you accept Christ as your Savior, He grants you eternal life. Eternal life is eternal. It would be temporary life if you could lose it.

Christ died on the cross so that our sins may be forgiven. When we are baptized into hie death we receive the gift of the holy Spirit (Grace) which is part of salvation. Faith is necessary for salvation, but Grace reflects a person's Faith. You can weaken of lose this gift of Grace through sin. But that is why we have redemption for our sins. Merits (Charity) strengthens Grace, but it of course will not save anyone from being condemned, but will pay off temporal punishment for the suffering caused by those sins. This is what's called Atonement.

Simply put, 2 Co. 5:17 says that "if any man be in Christ he is a new creation." How can a new creation go back to being an old creation. Our God is a God of order and perfection. He won't give you his Spirit, then take it back, or make you new, then make you old, or make you a son or daughter, then take it back. A lot of times it can take years upon years to get strengthened roots wrapped around the foundation. Keep reading and stay in prayer.

you've got to understand what the word "saved" means. you are not saved because you believe that God died for your sins and His resurection. Did you know that the Devil knows that Jesus died for people's sins, but the devil isn't saved.
Of course you need to believe in God and that He died for your sins and about His resurection, but what you also need to do is to accept a "gift" from Him. You see, we are all sinners and there is nothing we can do about that. And the punishment for sin is death--death in Hell. But, Jesus loves us so He died on the cross to make a way to spend eternity with Him in Heaven so that we dont have to spend eternity in Hell, for Hell is a HORRIBLE place and is not meant for anyone to be in. Now, since Jesus died in the cross for our sins all we have to do is accept the gift that He wants us to have and that gift is eternal life through Him. This is what you have to do:(it is practically what i was saying)
1. Admit that you are a sinner
2. Repent and turn away from your sin -- sin is anything you do wrong
3. Believe that Jesus died, was buried and rose again from the dead
4. invite Jesus to come and live in your heart forever
say a simple prayer to God. praying is simply talking to God as if you were talkking to your friend. He heres you and listens. So tell Him that you want that gift of salvation. you are only saved through faith in Him and by His grace. say a prayer like this:
"Lord Jesus, it is true that I am a sinner and that I deserve Hell, but You died on the cross for me so that I can live with You forever. I need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died, was buried and that You rose from the dead. By faith, I turn away from my old sin life and ask You to live in my life as my Saviour and Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen."
the only difference between you and the devil is that you want Jesus to be your Saviour and that you admit that your a sinner. The devil doesnt want to do all that, but he knows that there is a God and he wants others to think that there isnt. please dont fall into that trap.
so, if you have done all that, you wont ever lose your salvation. your in Gods hands and even though you did bad things and you want to let go of His hands remember that you can always ask forgiveness and also remember that even though you let go of His hand, He willl never let go of yours no matter what.
you may be wonderinng y i had to write all that stuff and not just answer your question straight away. I had to write all that, because if you are not properly saved, then you wont lose your salvation because you dont have one! you have to REALLY be saved and I wsnt so sure that u were coz u didnt say anything about admitting that your a sinner and asking forgiveness.
try going to a baptist church. now church and good works doesnt get you saved, it only helps you to grow spiritually and understand more about God. =)

Once a person is born again they can not lose their salvation since Jesus is holding us not the other way around.

If you truly believe Jesus is the son of God and accept Him as your Lord than you cannot lose your salvation, for you will never stop believing in Him. If someone claims they believe in Christ but than later reject that notion and stop believing in Christ, than they probably never gave their life to Jesus in the first place. Good luck and God bless.

So if you have to worry about losing your salvation like you already worry about losing your job or your car keys, where's the value in religion? And on the flip side if you can't lose it, why worry about whether you ever had it? I had it once, when I was 5, I've moved on.

Here is an analogy:
kid allergic to bee stings and will die if stung. Kid and parent are in car (Kid represents us on Earth, parent represents Jesus). Bee is flying around in car. The parent grabs the bee with their hand and gets stung, now the kid will not get stung, the kid will live!
That is what Jesus did for us, he paid the price and now we can be forgiven and go to heaven.

Yes you can. Read Hebrews 6:4-6.
If you are a mature believer and reject the Holy Spirit you become apostate and irredeemable.
Besides, salvation is something that someone achieves, not has.
