Muscle training advice needed?

Hi,

Id like to start going to the gym in order to lose weight and thats why i want to ask this question: how do I work on my muscles, maiking them stronger (Im quite weak) but without gaining much muscle size? Ive heard of women who didnt exercise correctly and looked even more fat because their muscles increased in size and their ahoulders and calves got bigger than before. How do I avoid this happening to me?

Women can't sized up like a man. The reason why the women you mentioned got bigger is because they ate too much more due to the increased exercise; it's the FAT that's the problem, not the muscle.

If you exercise properly (that is, proper technique and otherwise lifting as heavy as you can), and also eat a proper diet, you will actually get smaller, not bigger.

Building muscle is actually way more straightforward than most people think.

Here are a few quick tips for you:

    - Focus on free weight compound exercises

    - Train with a high level of intensity

    - Keep a training logbook and focus on improving each week

    - Don't workout more than 3-4 days per week

    - Train your ENTIRE body rather than focusing on "showy" muscles

    - Stick to low to moderate reps (around 5-7)

    Hope this helps,

    Brian

you will gain muscle mass if you weight train by lifting weights that are heavy enough that you can only do 8 to 12 reps with. try to start with low weight and high reps (20-25), this way you will tone and strengthen the existing muscle without making it much bigger.

to lose weight I would recommend either jogging on the treadmill or jumping on the bike machines for a duration of time; the fastest way to lose weight in my opinion is to diet correctly and either jog or ride the bike with some level of resistance. With building muscle strength but not muscle size I would suggest using some toning balls or 1kg-2kg weights to simply tone up your muscles. Also remember to drink litres of water during your workout to help rebuild the muscles you are breaking during your workout and to also stay hydrated.

do cardio a lot of it because women put on weight faster than men

excersise your legs :- leg press, lunges etc

lift light weights like :- 1-25 kg

    lift free weights:- only 2-10kg
