How bad must this cold wave that's hitting around the country be when even Florida is being affected with->?

I used to live in Florida and when it gets cold, even if not as cold as it does elsewhere, then it really bugs you because it's a big difference from what you are used to. My parents live in Tennessee - where I am originally from - and I saw it didn't get out of the 20's today, which is rare. It looks like it is going to warm up again next week though.

It's been cold here in Boston. It's been in the 20's when I go out to walk my dog and we are not even going out tonight because it's already 23 degrees. My roommates have told me it is a little colder than usual. So, I figure if I can make it through this winter then that is a very good sign. I am pretty sure I will and it's been an adjustment but I'm getting the hang of it! But, it's supposed to be colder than usual this weekend as well. So, I'm likely just going to stay inside and stay warm.

Ugh! This bad weather is starting to make me hate winter! I actually got snowed in at school an extra night when I was trying to get home for winter break. There was over a foot of snow in some areas around here and over 200 accidents so they wouldn't let anyone off the mountain. grrr... Then, it was freezing the whole time I was home. Now, I'm back in the mountains and there's still snow on the ground from 3 weeks ago...it's too cold to even melt. =[ I mean, we have cold days here, but there's usually warmer days in between. we've been in the 30's or below for a month now with no breaks. I'm sick and tired of it!!

Frigid cold all week 6-10 inches of snow the last two days in Indiana and wind chills to get to minus 10 tonight. Snow showers tonight and tomrrow in the forecast. The closed county schools today and city schools were on a 2 hour delay. Some bsinessess and even court houses closed. Necessary travel only some roads are drifting shut from high winds. Better next week though- high in the low teens and lows in the single digits. But it was warm on christmas!!

It will bring pretty serious consequences for many plants that aren't able to survive the temperatures. At least many places have gotten plenty of snow as well, helping to insulate.

Living in Wisconsin, I'm pretty used to cold so it doesn't effect me much compared to any other year. Our truly cold days are pretty much always at the end of January / beginning of February. (and we have the snow cover this year to protect the plants from a hard freeze, which is sometimes a problem)

I can't help but laugh at the people who can't understand that a cold snap doesn't mean global climate change is not happening. Education is seriously lacking.

l saw there was snow in Alabama too! It's a pretty normal winter so far for Wisconsin, lots of snow varying temperatures, nothing unusual here. It's 15 degrees now, will be in 20 on Sunday with snow, but heat wave on Tuesday at 25!

On a side note-kids are crazzzzy here. I live by the high school and when school ended it was 21 degrees, there were kids walking by in T-Shirts and Shorts.

Edit: By the looks of these other answers, seems like Wisconsin is the one out of the norm by being normal.

We have 'cold spells' here in the middle of the state of Florida. Rarely do we have a week or longer of cold weather.

I never turn on my heat. I have it on now. 24/7.

My husband is in Knoxville, TN. His sister said it has not been this cold there since the 1800's.

I am a Floridian. It is COLD when the temp is 45 degrees!

Bad. I got around 8-10 inches of snow since yesterday night. I'm getting a little tired of shoveling! High temperature for Saturday, January 9-12 degrees Fahrenheit. Cold and snowy.

It is snowing again today, but starting tomorrow, Sunday through the next Sunday, we will have 30-40's degree weather. We sort of need it to get the water unfroze. (What did the woman above my head say?) Our heat wave is a big bad 11 degrees because it was 3 above.

I live 30 minutes north of Walt Disney World in Lake County. Last night it got down to 23 degrees. There were reports of snow flurries in Orlando. Now this was the very reason I moved from New Jersey. Anyway it won't be cold for long down here.

It did not get above 32 degrees here in south Mississippi today. It will be about 18 degrees tonight. I'm on vacation this week.I picked the wrong time to take off work, but i'm still glad i don't have to get out in the cold weather.
