What's up with Colt McCoy?
I am not buying into the lie that he could not play, and I am not keeping silent just because I am a Longhorn fan! Brett Favre plays in every game, and he gets hit by guys twice as strong. Had Colt had a serious injury, all could understand. Nevertheless, he (himself) knew that he could go back in the game but didn't. Stupidly and on "LIVE T.V.," it was stated that his father and others did not want him to return and limit his recruiting possibilities. First of all, Mc Elroy played with a "REAL" injury-a cracked rib!! Secondly, do you really think the NFL and scouts were impressed? They know ALL INJURIES and who can and cannot play. If he is that Fragile, no NFL team is going to come knocking. This was the most important game of his career. Let's not forget Nebraska and the image it left in the minds of scouts. Bradford, from Oklahoma, has a chance of going to the Pros due to his size and endurance. When he got hurt for the season, he tried to return but got hurt again. He is a fighter and the kind of player a multi billion dollars industry is seeking to recruit. If the QB from Alabama decides to go professionally, he will be drafted right away. What really gets me is the fact that Colt McCoy wanted to go back in the game after finding out NOTHING SERIOUSLY WAS WRONG!! Numbness happens; it is a part of the game. The Pros ask the question: Are you injured or are you not? Mark my word and let's not forget Matt Leinhart; Colt's real estate fell quicker than Detroit's housing recession. Mc Elroy's stock just went up because his enduring ability. His father did not tell him to come off of the field and not hurt his changes with the NFL! Coach Brown did not tell McCoy he could not go back in, so he cannot say I was overruled. If so, by whom? His father made the decision, for we know what Colt wanted to do. Colt should have done something that would have changed the course of his relationship with his father and that is make his own decision and tell papa to stop trying to relive your life through me!!
Did you not notice that Father McCoy acted as if he was the coach and the trainer? He was not supposed to be down there. Mc Elroy's father was at the game sitting with the fans. His son had a more serious problem than Colt. Brown was not man enough to tell el padre to go back to his seat, for "I will handle this!" What if all the parents of the Longhorns wanted the same rights as Colt McCoy's overwhelming father? Colt McCoy cannot simply just allow father to control him. I know that he is his father and was his coach in high school, but it cost us a championship. The doctors, Colt, and the coach should have made that decision.

Yea, I thought that it was a little strange that his father was allowed to come out of the stands,
into the medical facility, locker room, etc. He must have had some say in evaluating Colt's
injury and his possible return to the game. I'm surprised that we didn't even see Colt trying
to make a couple of practice throws on the sidelines, to test out his shoulder. Was there
pain associated with that injury? It didn't look like it? Pinched nerve? I've had pinched nerve
in my shoulder from sports injury. It's extreme pain, then some numbness, and then really
hard to lift up arm and move shoulder for quite awhile. I'm not sure if it ever gets back to
normal.
This injury probably puts a lot of question marks into the minds of NFL teams, who may have
been thinking of drafting McCoy. I expect many to back off. He's definitely now dropped down
a round or two.

Hawaii will need much more than an undefeated record to go to the national championship. Brennan is a product of the Hawaii passing system against pop-warner defenses. McCoy on the other hand is a composed and deadly accurate quarterback in a college system and facing real teams. Last year he was hurt for a game, and wasn't 100% the last few games. Brennan might not even get drafted if this all he can muster. Yes, he has the touchdown record and off the chart stats, but scouts need more, they need insurance that he got those stats by winning a game he shouldn't have. McCoy has many oppotunities to do that. And last year against OSU he rallied team and against Nebraska he led the game-winning drive. I think McCoy takes the Longhorns to the nation championship again, while Brennan rots with a mediocre record.

First I want to say that I understand your frustration. But I do want you to be a little more in the frame of mind to be able to take a closer look at the injury. If you watch closely at the slow motion replay you will see that it was a direct helmet impact in the rotator cuff. What happened to Colt McCoy was an Compression Injury. The impact was so direct and straight on that it all but severed the nerve in that area that extends the entire length of the arm. It also blunts most of the pain associated with the injury which is why he couldn't feel his arm or the pain. A compression injury can be career ending if it is not fully x-rayed to determine the extent of the injury before taking any additional impact. While I am a DIe-Hard Alabama fan, I wanted to see Colt play the whole game too. But in all respect for the athelete...the right call was made not to play him and risk the rest of his career. Damaged nerves are not to played with. They are much different than than muscle and bone injuries.
Oh and by the way for all of you who don't know, McCoy did practice throwing the ball and couldn't accurately throw it 7 yards to his father, who by the way is a football coach and is very well respected in that community.

McCoy did try and go back in, but the reason he wasn't allowed to go back in is 1: they said that they did not want to jeopardize his NFL future and 2. He got down on the side lines and him and his dad tried to toss the football around and the heisman finalist, the starter of the #2 team in the nation, and a top NFL prospect couldn't throw an accurate ball to his father standing 7 yards away from him so from that the decision was made to not let him go back into the game! Had it been his other shoulder i'm sure he would have went back in, but he just simply couldn't throw the football with any accuracy!

You didn't mention if you were a doctor or examined Colt at that game. Numbness is NOT part of the game and could be very serious. If my kid came out of the ballgame of his life injured, you'd better believe I'd be with him talking to the doctors! Colt's NFL alleged career is more important than a college championship.

If a QB gets hit on their throwing arm by a very big linebacker it will always impact their ability to throw the ball. Secondly Mc Elroy played with a very small crack in his ribs, which was not detected with by X-ray. I think that the coaches made the best decision they could. God bless Colt McCoy!!!

I'm going the other way.
I think there is something MORE serious that they aren't saying.
The way he was holding his arm would indicate something is wrong in his shoulder, most likely the clavicle (collar bone). I know this look, I have seen it in the kids I have coached and I personally broke mine.
I don't think he wants the NFLer's to know about it because it could impact where he goes in the draft.

You'll never make Texas fans believe that he's a pussy . He bailed on his team to keep from having a bad game or out of fear of the defense. I think he lost his credibility. He was made to look like a star by playing a weak schedule year after year but he's a certified pussy. I wonder if he'll run to daddy if he gets hit too hard in the pros ? He won't last long, they are looking for men.

He couldn't throw a football. He lost all his arm strength.
