Army Rangers Enlistment?
So I am an aspiring Green Beret now the best way for me to accomplish this is to become a Ranger first? (plus i can test and retest and should i not make it first shot i go back to Rangers not 11b) can you enlist right into the Rangers as a civillian something sinilar to the SF's 18x enlistment MOS?

Not to be rude, but a Green Beret is a hat.....the operators are Special Forces. On that note being a "regular" 11B for a few years will teach you almost everything you need to know to pass SFAS (Special Forces selection). You do not need to be a Ranger first, but the school will certainly teach you what you can and cannot do. It is a great measure of the man. You can enlist with a ranger option in your contract, but if you really want to go 18 series right away go to the 18x program. You will get to go to infantry OSUT, Airborne, SWIC, and SFAS. If you don't pass you will have a good idea what you need to do and will be in the right place to do it. You would also have a pretty good chance at going to ranger school in the infantry. Good Luck.

Kudos to you for your GREAT ambition! You need NOT go to Ranger School to become a Green Beret, however after passing the initial phases of examinations, you will be REQUIRED to attend Army Ranger School. There is no other training course offered in the world, that simulates a combat environment as realistically as Ranger School. All U.S. Special Operations personnel are cycled through it- SEALS, UDT, Force Recon, Air Rescue, and of course, Special Forces. When you successfully complete Ranger School, you will no the exact limitations of your physical and mental capacitiies. It is extremely demanding. But no matter how old you get, you will look back and know that you have accomplished something that probably less than 5% of the population could do. And yes, you can go directly to the Rangers, but you had better be made of stern stuff, have a Spartan mindset with a "gung ho" attitude. It is not easy..........

yes option 40 is ranger contract. so pick the MOS that you want from the various MOSs that ranger regiment has and get option 40 with that when you enlist.
if you want to become SF why not just do 18X from the getgo?
for all of those selection process schools int he army you can retry for, however it wont be like basic where they'll recycle you and recycle you and youll stay in training until you pass. if you fail initially for 18X you'll have to wait until your an e-4 with the right TIG and TIS requirements to be an e-5 to contact a SF recruiter to try again. but thats all dependent on your units mission. if you are deployed or scheduled for a major ftx or something they will not allow you to try again.
its similiar for RASP for getting into regiment. if you fail on your initial entry you'll have to contact a ranger recruiter to find out when you can try. for that though you'll most likely have to reenlist for it.

maximum rangers do no longer stay in ranger battalion for terribly long. its an fairly stressful, stressful, and disciplined atmosphere. As a ranger you install continuously, ive heard of a few of them having over 10 excursions. an excellent style of them the two attempt out for SF or change returned to extensive-unfold military instruments after putting of their time at ranger batt.

You can enlist from civilian into airborne, rangers & special forces, if you dont make it the first time in the school you can forget it after that.
