    you had not mentioned what type of doc it is and what the application is. Let me assume it as a word document and the best way to open it is

    open the application i.e "Microsoft word" from start->programs...or shorcut on the desktop

    once the application is opened, click on file and it will show New, open and second last , it will show the recent documents opened by the user. open every listed document and check whether your latest version is available. This may not work in your case if you had open many other documents for verification.

    =================

    Another way is Searching for the document

    1. start ->search for files and folder.

    2. enter the file name and search your computer

    3. from the listed one, arrange as per modified, open and check it.

    Open another attachment and click on 'Save As'

    Make a note of the folder that shows up.

    Open that same folder and search for the saved file.

    Sort /Arrange icons by last modified will help in case there are a lot of files in there.

    You have to download attachments in order to save them.
