I am eating between 800-100 calories a day, how long will it take me to lose 40lb?
I know people say "starvation mode" my mum is a doctor and says, no its not real, if you eat 800-1000 calories a day you will lose weight and after you have reached your goal, going back to a normal diet of 2000 a day will not make you gain weight. I just want know how long it would take me to lose 40lb eating between 800-1000 calories a day. Thankyou.
Sorry I meant 800-1000

No. You need to eat according to what your body needs for energy. 800 calories isn't going to help because your body still is in starvation mode. eating what your body needs at rest is what is minimally needed If you don't exercise. Things to cut out: Saturated fats trans fats Sugary foods white bread white pasta red meat sodium rich foods things to put in: whey protein shake multivitamin brown bread whole grain pasta white meat organic foods Exercise is definitely what you need as it will speed your metabolism up and help with the weight loss. Also eating 6 times a day splitting your calories up Is a good idea as it speeds metabolism up Drink LOTS of water. every hour on the hour. you can easily lose a good 10 pounds with your meals just by drinking water Good luck!!

Well your mom is not a weight loss expert.
If you want to lose weight you need to eat at least 1200 cal a day, regular meals, big breakfast, etc.
I've seen it work.
Your best bet is combining healthy eating with cardio and weight training for best results.

Doctors are notoriously ill-educated in nutrition and diet. They spend about a week on it during their entire education. You need a registered dietitian to answer this question.
I think this low amount of calories could impact your normal bodily functions and even your organs.

after your body goes through a drastic change, it feels its starving which will factually make you obtain more fat.
Switching from high calories to low calories will make your body go into shock.
Switching visa versa it will make you more "fat" do to eating and obtaining loss fat.

You need to calculate your BMI which you can do on google! It will tell you all that so check it out!
BMI- is your BODY MASS INDEX- i check mine whenever i lose weight! IT will tell you how much you should weigh for your size and how much to eat to get there! Follow that and you will be healthy and lose those pounds!
