I don't forget what I'm watching. But I often forget what the scene was in the movie I had on. So

often we will run the movie back and bit and restart it. You can do that with Tivo, or any tape. I

don't watch TV much anymore. There is usually too much to keep up with on the internet. So that's

where most of my time goes, when I'm at home. I make the other things wait, until I feel the urge

    to leave my chair.

I once had the misfortune to be involved in a lengthy football game; some sort of play offs, maybe the Super Bowl.

After what seemed an eternity, there was the most wonderful entertainment. So nice. Made me forget all about those grown men chasing a ball.

Next thing, the damned game was back on.

    I couldn't believe it!

Now, I can't remember what that nice entertainment was, but it was good.

Yes, that fifth commercial break during hour shows has shortened program from 46 minutes to about 40 minutes. That's why I tape Numb3rs removing the commercials and then watch it again commercial-free...

I guess I'm slower than everyone else because it seems to me they are so fast I don't know what the plot was!! So, I asked my g'kids one day sitting here watching a movie and soon as the commercials were over we had a game about what the commercials were advertising!! So, it's not just old people the young kids either block them out or they're said so fast you can't comprehend!!!

We mute the TV when the commercials come on. Some of them make you not want to buy the product. We try to remember what the show was about, but then some shows are not worth remembering.

    "old people" ??? ...

Do we need to start an "Alliance of People Against Ageism" here? (( LOL ))

... and now, back to our regularly-scheduled program ...

    1. Watch PBS - no commercials (big advantage) ... pledge drives (big disadvantage)

    2. Use that "mute" function on the remote -- very handy -- works like a charm!

    3. Just let my "internal mute function" take over - turns them to "white noise"

I have learned to "tune-out" commercials very effectively!

(Considering many of today's commercials ... they are so mind-numbingly stupid ...

I can't even tell what they are advertising anyway!)

Source(s): For the "young people" ... a message from "the old people" ... Remember man, as you walk by, As you are now, so once was I, As I am now, so shall you be, Remember this and follow me!

Yes, and worse yet are those teasers that say what they'll talk about after a commercial and I forget to go back to hear about what sounded interesting. Then I'm left wondering and don't even know what channel it was or even what it was I was interested in. Crap.

I am getting old, yes, but I am aware of what's what. Actually, because I live alone, the TV is on for noise. I only actually watch 2 or 3 shows....one is the Apprentice coming on again soon and Amer. got Talent. Other shows are garbage in my opinion and I leave the history channel on.

I like to watch PBS. They have good programming without commercials.

When network television commercials drag on for too long, I fall asleep. Then later, I wake up feeling frustrated and cranky because I missed out on "who done it."
