How do I connect my laptop to my TV via a VGA to RCA component cable?

I have a windows vista laptop w/out an HDMI port so I decided to buy a vga to component cable from Amazon. when i made all the connections i needed from my laptop to my sony bravia HDTV my tv said no signal please check the connections and everything was fine. I tried pressing the fn and f4 keys but that didn't help at all. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! ):-( I'm frustrated.

If there is any other way to connect it to the tv with out an HDMI port and still have a good picture please let me know

If anybody knows I bought two of those cables can i use a component coupler to hook the two together?

    Sorry, but that will not work.

    If you can, you should return the VGA to RCA cable.

    The issue is that VGA is a signal that a television cannot decode, it is completely different than a standard RCA signal and WILL NOT WORK without a converter box.

    Your HDTV likely has a VGA port on the back, as most HDTV's do. Just use a standard VGA to VGA cable and connect it that way.

    For future reference, you should ALWAYS include the brand and model number of the laptop and the television in order to get a better answer.

    regrettably, cable won't actually artwork for television's. The VGA factors are crimson, Blue & eco-friendly (assuming you have a three connector factor cable); while, the television factor inputs are Luminance and a couple of colour distinction alerts (Blue and crimson).
