What would you recommend for someone interested in unit clerking?

I am interested in unit clerking, and hold my MOA certificate. Are there any ways that I would be able to get on the job training, or do I require the full program? Any insight from actual unit clerks would be helpful.

Units clerks are essential to a well-run nursing unit; however, it's a hard job! This is NOT an understatement! If you're willing to work hard dealing with all levels of medical personnel, taking the fallout from everyone and not losing your cool, you might enjoy the work. On a positive note, a unit clerk will see firsthand what professional medical staff actually do at their jobs. So, if you're interested in medical work, it might be an excellent place to observe which profession you'd actually enjoy working if you want to advance. Godloveya.
