Purple Helen has the best answer so far, I think.

I might add that there is a definite negative connotation possible to calling a person a Casanova. He's not a particularly moral character, and certainly not a positive role model when it comes to being a protector of the innocent, or a defender of the virtue of women.

A gentrified whore dog might be a somewhat unembellished description of this cad.

Casanova was a great lover of women, but he moved quickly from one to the next.

It means they are a man who has had a lot of luck with women!

Casanova is a character in a book - he seduced many, many women, often under the very noses of their husbands or fathers!

The only times I've ever referred to someone with the term, I've always meant it to frame them as gigolos or players.
