Is 50% + 1 votes required to elect the new Senator from Massachusetts in the special election, Jan. 19, 2010?

    That is true in theory -- 50% + 1 of all valid ballots cased during proper polling times. Now there are a lot of qualifications in that --- who determines a proper voter, who determines a proper ballot, who get into the polls, who does not get into the polls and then there is the most important aspects of any election: Who counts the actual votes For this is true for all elections:

    I think since gay marriage was passed a lot of homosexuals moved to the state so the republicans do stand a chance at winning
