What was the main point of the opening scene of 'Daybreakers'?

Not everyone can handle being a vampire. That child was obviously turned by someone who loved her. But that child would be a child for the rest of eternity, never growing up, trapped inside that form as her mind continued to grow. Would you like to be twelve for a century? For a millenia?

Often people were turned out of love; Frankie loved his brother, so he turned him. Bromley loved his daughter, so he had her turned. That did not exactly work out for them.
