Exams are tommorrow please help me on these few math questions?

you don't have to do all of them, and could you explain how you got your answers

1. the perimeter of a rectangle is 24m and the length is 8. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.

2. The length of a rectangle is 5 more than the width. If the perimeter is 42 ft. what are the dimensions of the rectangle?

3. the sides of a triangle have lengths of x, x-2, and 2x-40. The perimeter is 70 cm. Find the length of each side of the triangle.

4. two sides of a pentagon have a length of (3x-2) cm and three sides have a length of (2x+4)cm. If the perimeter is 104cm find the length of the longest side.

    1) since a rectangle has four sides,(two long and two short), and the length (the longer sides) is eight, multiply 8 by 2 (since their are two long sides) and you get 16, which is the combined total of the two sides with 8m. Next you do 24-16, and then you end up with 8. Divide this by two, and you get 4, which is the width of the rectangle.

    So, the final answer is the length=8m and the width=4m. I hope this is explained clearly!

    ANSWER 4

    2(3X-2)+3(2X+4)=104

    6X-4+6X+12=104

    12X=104+4-12

    12X=96

    X=8
