What is a true Christian? The word "Christian" does not appear in the KJV.?

Nor does Christmas for that matter. If "Christians" walk in the truth why is pagan foundation so evident and allowed? A sincere study of Roman history reveals so much light on this subject.

It's not my intent to be harsh by any means or offend any. Pls forgive me if I have...Only hope is for honest disussion....PEACE

Act 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

1Pe 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

The false and long disproved MYTH that Christianity has "pagan" connections is like the serpent that never dies. PLEASE tell your friends, the claim was refuted and laid to rest by 1920 and its NOT true. I encourage you to get Lee Strobel's Book: the Case for the Real Jesus. and the many authoritative Books referenced therein to show you WHY this is NOT true.

Being a " true Christian" is a big question. It includes a true and sincere faith in the historical Jesus of the Bible as Lord, God and Savior, combined with a true and sincere repentance of your sin. It will lead to a sound faith in those essential doctrines of a true Christian faith as outlined in the apostolic creed and other early creeds. It will lead to being a Holy Spirit led walk with God where Jesus does his works through you.

Reading from the book By Lee Strobel, on page 185, titled: The Tide of Scholarship: Ronald Nash, the author of such books as faith and reason and the meaning of history, took truth seriously. He was a plain talking professor with little patience for scholars are popular writers who took intellectual shortcuts are twisted the facts to support their own preconceived beliefs. His students quickly learned what it meant when Nash would mockingly sway his hips from side to side while quoting from a book. "It meant he believed what he was reading aloud was at best ridiculous and at worst heretical," for Nash, he said, truth was more than an ideological parlor game: real lives were at stake. So Nash was understandably intolerant of books that repeated worn-out Christian quote "copycat" claims that had been thoroughly answered decades ago. Offended by the blatant misrepresentations, sloppy logic, and trumped up parallels, he sat down to write the Gospel in the Greeks as an antidote in 1992. As facts, logic, and clarity, and oversimplification and attention to detail, and flights of fancy found in so many greatly overstated works on the topic. It is clear that the liberal arguments exhibit astoundingly bad scholarship. Indeed, this conclusion may be too generous, he said, with characteristic candor. His passion leads through the pages: which of the Mystery gods actually experienced a resurrection from the dead? Certainly no earlier text refers to any resurrection of Attis. Attempts to link the worship of Adonis to a resurrection are equally weak. Nor is the case for a resurrection of Osiris any stronger... And of course no claim can be made that Mithra's was a dying and rising God. French scholar Andre' Boulanger concluded: "the concession that the God dies and is resurrected in order to lead his faithful to eternal life is represented in no Hellenistic mystery religion."

Them passage concludes, one thing was for sure. The tide of scholarly opinion has turned dramatically against attempts to make early Christianity depended on the so-called dying and rising gods of Hellenistic paganism, said Nash.

Please do your due diligence and stop repeating sensationalized fiction and learn what is considered valid scholarship concerning these false and refuted long ago claims.

i just wanted to argue about christian appearing in the KJV

    1. Acts 11:26

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

    2. Acts 26:28

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

    3. 1 Peter 4:16

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

    that's all

A true Christian is one that believes in Christ. Quite simple really. I do like the answer from Christin... but she is not aware that her list of what "true Christians are not" is judgemental and a true Christian is not allowed to judge. She is young, I hope she comes to learn this. I am a Christian but I am far from measuring up to Christ and He knows that and is still my savior in spite of my misbehaviours. I'll likely need the rest of my life to improve.

As far as Christmas, I am aware that the day was chosen from a pagan holiday to entice pagans to come to Christianity. It does not change the fact that the day celebrates Christ's birth. I know it is an arbitrary day.

Try reading Acts 11:26, it says that the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. But Christmas is indeed pagan and that is why my brothers and sisters in the world do not celebrate it.

    TRUE Christians are:

People who have asked forgiveness of their sins & try to sin as least as possible.

People who have a TRUE relationship with the Lord.

    TRUE Christians are not:

People who constantly speak vulgar & have hate against one another.

    People who sin without caring.

People who listen to very worldly/inappropriate music.

    People that reject the Lord.

And basically people that do not even try to follow the Bible & believe in God or his words.

If a person says they are a Christian & act like this, they are not true. Pray for them that they will learn how to live the correct way through Jesus Christ.

Source(s): I'm very strong & true Christian even though I am only 14. My parents are sunday school teachers, so I go to church EVERY sunday & grew up in church(: I talk with God a bajillion times a day, and this is what he has told me through prayer & the Bible(:

Acts 11 26And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Christmas is simply the celebration of His arrival...

the fact you try to use history but you read from the KJV shows that you are probably here to fuel an agenda for more fundamentalism, less thought and rationale.

KJV is notorious for erronous translations.

a true christian is one that can heal by touch, drink and poison and not be harmed and walk on scorpions and snakes and not be harmed

Source(s): Matthew for the first 2 true christian parts John for the last scorpion and snakes bit.

Because my friend.."the whole world is deceived". And Christ asks the rhetorical questions, "shall scarcely one man even be saved". The truth is painful.
