    MT,

I the love the Evergreen Forest. I have so many good memories of times with my family backpacking through the forest clear above the tree line. When I was 9 years old I was feeling very bored in the cabin, so my grandmother told me to go climb the mountain. My mother was worried about me going up there alone. But my grandmother said, she a smart girl, she'll be fine. Then she told me to stay close to the "crick", as she called the tiny creek that ran down June Mountain, past the cabin my dad and grandfather built and on into town.

As long as I stayed within sight of the crick I'd make it back down hill to the cabin. She also told me how to look for animal prints as I went up the hill. My adventure was wonderful. At that age pine cones were still a novelty I loved, the scatter of pine needles, some in "Y" shapes were yellow pines, and those with two together were white pines. My favorite to identify were, and still are, the sugar pines. They have a bark pattern of dark brown that looks just brownies right out of the oven. Brownie trees, how cool is that?

I have other experiences that are supportive of that, too, but I won't take up so much space. I just love the evergreen forest. I'm an environmentalist, too.

Tropical Rain Forest, because of its bio-diversity.
