  • Can you crowdsource buying a house?

We give money to strangers without knowing what they are going to use it for because we like to give but not that many of us give money to people around us who need some help, let's say for buying a house. So, I'm just wondering how people would feel if someone tries to crowdsource buying a house? And no, I'm not talking about a $1,000,000 house. I'm talking a house in $100k to $150k.

  • Pham can work as many or as few hours as she wants at the college bookstore for $11 per hour. But due to her hectic?

Pham can work as many or as few hours as she wants at the college bookstore for $11 per hour. But due to her hectic schedule, she has just 16 hours per week that she can spend working at either the bookstore or at a combination of potential jobs. One potential job, at a café, will pay her $12 per hour for up to 6 hours per week. She has another job offer at a garage that will pay her $10 an hour for up to 5 hours per week. And she has a potential job at a daycare center that will pay her $8.50 per hour for as many hours as she can work.

If her goal is to maximize the amount of money she can make each week, how many hours will she work at the bookstore?

  • "The flex in flexible budget relates solely to variable costs" Do you agree? Explain.?

a- No. Fixed costs are also adjusted in a flexible budget to reflect varying levels of activity. Therefore, flexible budgets are flexible with respect to both variable and fixed costs.

b- No. Flexible budgets are prepared for only one expected level of activity. By definition, fixed costs do not change with the level of activity, and therefore fixed costs are the only costs included in a flexible budget.

c- Yes, Flexible budgets are flexible only with respect to variable costs. Although fixed costs change with the level of activity, only variable costs are evaluated in flexible budget.

d- Yes. Flexible budgets are flexible only with respect to variable costs. By definition, fixed costs do not change with the level of activity, and therefore there is no "flex" in the fixed cost portion of a flexible budget.

  • What volume of vector and insert are needed to get a 1:1 molar ratio in 20 micro-gram ligation reaction?

You want to clone a 200 bp (base pair) insert into a 3200 bp vector. The concentrations of the starting stocks of insert and vector 1 micro-gram per micro-liter. You want the following amounts of vector and insert in a 20 micro-gram ligation reaction:

-total of 5 micro-gram of vector

-1:1 molar ratio of vector to insert

What volume of your 1 micro-gram per micro-liter vector and what volume of your 1 micro-gram per micro-liter insert you need to add? (1 mole of base pairs = 660g)

I've got an idea and I just need to check if it is correct. For both vector and insert I have found out that there is 15.15 x10^(-10) moles per micro-gram.

  • Is it possible to get off cholesterol lowering medications after its levels have reached normal range?

I have high cholesterol and my doctor wants to put me on medication to lower it. However, I've very hard time with taking medications on a regular basis both because I psychologically do not like the idea of taking medications for a long time and because due to lap-band surgery, some times it is very hard for me to swallow even the smallest tablets (sometimes even liquid medication can cause problems). Therefore, I'm wondering if it is possible to get off the medication after the cholesterol levels have reached a normal range.

High cholesterol runs in my family.

  • Ant vets or vet techs out there with good advice on giving pills to cats?

My 8 year old tabby has a bad back and I'm suppose to give her 1/4 of Tramadol twice daily. The problem is that no matter what I do, she chocks on it and her mouths fills up with foam. I've tried the "pull the head back and drop the pill at the back of the mouth" which is not working because she keeps moving her tongue and push the pill out. I've tried pill pockets and mixing the pill with wet food but she will not touch it. She does not like any sorts of cat treats so no point of trying them. She likes some human foods like yogurt and ice cream (which by the way, I don't usually let her have them) but she won't touch them either if I mix the pills with them. I've tried dissolving the pill in a bit of water and give it to her with a syringe but it doesn't dissolve very well and she still chocks on it.

I've got a pill gun which I haven't tried yet but I'm not very optimistic about using it.

  • Can I dump/bury cat waste in woods?

I have 2 cats and every week when it is time to change the litter box I feel guilty for using a plastic liner and put the waste (which by itself is totally biodegradable and completely breaks down in few days or weeks) in a bag which will probably stay in the landfills for ever. So I looked around and found a brand of liner which is supposedly biodegradable but I still don't feel right about this because I am sure that it will still take a long time for the waste to break down. So I am wondering if environmentally it is better if I dump the waste in the woods at the end of my street and if it is legally ok to do so(I live in suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota, US)?

  • Why my older cat pull my younger cat's fur off and she lets her to do that?

I have 2 cats, both female, one is about 7 or 8 and the other is about 5 or 6 years old. My older cat likes to pull off my younger cats fur and she lets her do it. Any reason other than the older one wanting to show who is the boss?

By the way, they have been together for at least 4 or 5 years now. An this behavior started about a year ago.

  • Does the sound of water dripping into the fish tank from water pump or filter bothers the fish?

I have 2 goldfish and I'm wondering if the sound of the water dripping into their tank from the water filter bothers them and if I should turn it of once in a while.

Also I would like to know why every time I change 75% of the water in the tank, I get a bacterial bloom?

  • My fish tank is very cloudy and it is not getting better! ?

I have a 10 gallon fish tank with only 2 goldfishes in it. I do not have any live plants or any other animals in there. I changed the water 3 days ago. I did a +50% water change because I hadn't change the water for a few weeks. I also cleaned the filtration system and changed the carbon. When I change water, I just use tap water directly and then add de-chlorination agent and water conditioner to the tank. I never had any problem with this before, but this time the water got very cloudy the next day (so bad that I did another 25% water change) and then went to pet store and got a some sort of tablet that is suppose to clear the water and get rid of the excess iron in the tank. I added one tablet to the tank and by the end of the day water was clear. But this morning it was cloudy again. So this time I added 2 tablets to the water hoping that it will take care of the cloudiness. But it is not working and water is still cloudy (it has been more than 12 hours since I added the tablets).

Should I try adding more tablets? The directions on the box says that one tablet is enough to get rid of the bacteria in 10 gallons of water or to get rid of iron in 20 gallons of water. If I add more tablets would it hurt the fishes? Should I do another water change? Please help!

  • Creationsts vs Evolutionists!?

Why creationists are always attacking evolutionists? As an evolutionist, we never say that creationists are stupid or dumb. We don't even question their belies and many of us have great faith in God. But it seems to me that creationists are always attacking us.

  • Claculus help!?

    Calculus question!?

Water is leaking out of an inverted conical tank at a rate of 10,000 cm^3/min at the same time that water is being pumped into the tank at a constant rate. The tank has height of 6m and the diameter at the top is 4m. If the water level is rising at a rate of 20cm/min when the height of the water is 2m (200cm), find the rate at which water is being pumped into the tank.

    Volume of cone=(pi*r^2 *h)/3
