When answering the phone, ?
When you answer the phone and the person on the other side asks for you (may I speak with,,,?), What do you say? "This is she/he." or "This is her/him." Which one is the correct grammar?

"This is she," is technically correct grammar, but you sound like real snob saying that.
Instead, try "Speaking." It's still proper without being stuck-up.

I dont care in the least bit about grammar, but i will answer the first part. I say "Who may I ask is calling?"

"This is she/he" is proper. These days, however, I think it sounds less stilted to simply say "Speaking".
I also agree with one of the above answers, however, in that you should NEVER answer that question -- one way or another -- unless the caller has identified him/herself. That, too, is proper! The caller should ALWAYS identify themselves first. If they don't, you have every right to ask them before identifying yourself.
If they don't state their full names and their business immediately, you also have every right to hang up.

I always say this is <insert name here>, or if it is for someone else in my house I say I am sorry <insert name here> isn"t available but I'd be happy to take a message.

Well lets say your name is Amy. Your friend calls for you and asks :May I speck with Amy?" You would say, "This is Amy." I hope this helped.

I think the proper way to say it is this is she.
But I always say this is me. :p

Does it matter? How about 'hello' - seems to work for most people.
The real question is - why do you care?
