Are we getting a bit fed up with American style claims for stupidity ?

Hi Folks,

I am recovering from a broken leg.

Completly my fault for riding a bike on an icy road.

I get calls saying that the council are at fault, and I should sue them.

Commission to the greedy beggars.

I see these folks saying " I was given the wrong type of ladder, and dislocated my shoulder,

I received £7000 in compensation"

Twit !

Why did you go up a dodgy ladder in the first place ?

Ambulance chasers everywhere.

A bloke was "visiting" folks in hospital, to see if a bit of money-grabbing was possible.

Any notions ?

Bob

Agree with you Bob, it was your choice to ride the bike. Always loads of questions on here asking if people can sue for the most stupid things. No one wants to take responsibility for their own actions.

Get well soon. I am sitting here with a new knee (2 weeks ago) and am becoming bored witless. Roll on Spring, keep your spirits up.

I couldn't agree more, esp with the example you gave about the ladder, if he knew it was the wrong ladder, why use it?!

Sure there are times when it is someone else's fault but why can't folk accept responsibility when it is mainly their own fault for an injury. I said donkeys years ago that our culture was becoming too Americanised regards the blame culture, you can't do anything for fear of being sued.

from kids climbing trees and playing conkers, to hanging baskets in town being banned in case one falls on someone. ARGH lol

Well Bob the simple truth is we are a sue happy country. If it was your fault then it was, crap happens. Dont sue you are bigger than that and here is a true fact lawsuit, I have tons. Ready? A man buys a car brand new, puts his car on cruise control, hopped in the back to take a nap and wrecked the car. He sued the company because in the manual it did not say Do not leave driver seat unattended while in cruise control. This man won a 4.5 million dollar lawsuit.........

A man robbed a bank and the dye pack went of and injured his private area....................he sued and won 1.7 million but is also serving 10 years in jail.......................My point everybody wants to sue, you my friend are a better person :0)

I think we certainly are. You have prisoners claiming for all sorts of things which is just crazy. It also makes me mad that you can't clear the snow from your own drives because if someone slips up they can sue you. It's common sense that if it's freezing and there's wet on the ground then it's going to be slippery. We all have accidents as children and learn from them, thus making sure it doesn't happen to us again. A lot of things people claim for are usually caused by their own stupidity and not using their common sense and they should not be able to claim for that as it's their own fault.

I totally agree with you ...

once you have reach the age of 18 then all your action are your fault .

this is why we are in a nanny state as we need some one to look after us ...!!!!

what has happened to great Briton

The rule should be if you hurt your self then your to blame ...

if you hurt someone else then you should get the blame !!!!
