what do you mean 'broken Ipod'?
is it physical damage? If yes, you should turn to professional data recovery firm for help. Search on internet, and compare the firms that you found carefuuly.
If no, you can try data recovery software to get back your data on your own.
My recommended one is Wondershare Data Recovery( simply I used it and it helped me get all my lost data back)

You might try this http://filehippo.com/download_recuva/ I've used it on PC's and it works pretty good at pulling out deleted and lost files.
