Hi: Not sure if they have a stovetop - if not, try picking up a single coil electric heater and pans (Goodwill or Salvation Army may have these - or check out lawnsales or folks you know who may be moving.)

    Staples:

    Milk

    Eggs

    Flour

    Sugar (white and lite brown)

    Baking Powder

    Baking Soda

    Butter

    Rice

    Barley (for soup)

    Noodles (spaghetti or others)

    Salt

    Pepper

    Garlic powder

    Bells seasoning

    Apple pie spice

    Curry powder

    Taco seasoning

    maple syrup

    Onion

    Potatoes

    Carrots

    Lemon

    Apples

    White bread

    Spaghetti sauce or tomato paste

    Vegetable oil

    Meat on sale

    small mayo

    small mustard

    small ketchup

With the above, you can make all kinds of foods, from French toast and pancakes to chicken with stuffing, spaghetti, curries, apple pie etc. Leftover meat can be made into sandwiches. I would also recommend a good easy cookbook such as the Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook.
