My contacts, atheists, Christians, anyone here that have taken or taught Psychology?

I'm taking a psychology course. For whatever reason took hold of me to pick that course, I do not know. I needed to pick something for the GPA and I randomly chose psychology. Anyway . . .

I'm completely alien to this thing. Of course I've heard of psychology, but I want someone's take or experience on psychology. From here. Because I'm bored and not falling asleep.

Update:

YES, HERE. Not in any other section! Not in Psychology section. Here. Why? Because I can.

Update 2:

Well, I sort of came late when I transferred to my new school and there was really a few options. I guess it'll help me understand what's going on in my crazy mother's head.

Update 3:

Yes, I'm taking the Intro.

Everyone should get the basic facts about psychology. Face the reality that it was not a bad choice.

Nearly everyone needs some sort of psychological counseling at some point in their lives. A big change, especially a negative one, can rattle the most stable person to the point where they need an external observer to help them gain perspective.

Still, psychology is often at odds with a spiritual point of view. They have a diagnosis called "magical thinking," and it's just too easy to take any and all spiritual practices or beliefs as "symptoms." So remember to keep your BS filters on high gain. Remember, too, that psychologists and psychiatrists are among the craziest of technically sane people.

Read the texts, listen to the lectures, but don't assume these people are infallible.

The text for the beginning psychology course I'm currently taking begins with several chapters on the scientific method, and how to judge and distnguish between the claims of genuine psychology, pop psychology and pseudoscience in general. It's great stuff. the text is "From Inquiry to Understanding", by Scott O. Lilienfield, et al.

I'm a psychology major! :D I really like it; it's interesting and abstract at times, but has enough hard data behind a lot of it that it can really be considered a science (take a research course and you'll know what I mean...if you don't kill people in frustration, that is). My favorite part is learning about the disorders and how they can be treated, since that's what I want to do. :)

Took it in HS for College credit. I advise Anthropology for Behavioral Science credit.

Psychology can be fun and boring, depending on your interests. Psychology covers everything from the functions of the brain to social disorders.

i enjoyed my social sciences course,

basically, fromwhat i remember, there are 'fields' of psychology, so there are different kinds of psychology, not just one lump issue,

i barely remember much about the course to be honest it was a few years ago now, all the tethnical stuffs gone

green, if your not enjoying it, you really shoudl change, you will regret doing that and wasting your colelge days on a cource you didnt like or find useful instead of chosing something you can use and enjoyd learning

It is a valuable thing to study - there is a lot to be learned. Just be aware that some of the big names got into very iffy magical territory, Carl Jung being the most obvious example.

A Christian could be switched over into an atheist. And an atheist could be switched over right into a Christian, It purely relies upon on how suseceptable they're. relies upon on whilst thier brainwashing began, relies upon on how deep the believes have been pounded of their subconscience concepts. unhappy factor maximum human beings cant think of on thier own and in ordinary terms believe what ever they're taught to believe. besides the fact that makes them experience the main suitable emotionally and bodily. There are some people who must be called "thinkers" or "philosophers" on occasion they're called prophets or different words. easily people who can detect and comprehend the certainty on their own devoid of being "switched over" mentally, emotionally, and from time to time bodily. i think of it may be exciting to verify a "christian" or an athiest say something unique. Christian - Jesus is a thank you to salvation stick to him and you shall stay perpetually. in case you have a difficulty purely examine from the Bible it shall set you loose. Come to our centers or you will go through eternal damnation. of path it isnt authentic for me to single out Christians maximum each faith says the comparable factor. Dont believe the way we do, you would be doomed to an afterlife of torment. Athiest - All religions are incorrect, god doesnt exist. Why believe in any if one in each of them ought to probable be incorrect. We die we develop into airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust. there became a reason Jesus disliked prepared faith returned interior the day. whilst human beings understand why, they could actually locate salvation. Self absorbtion, religious and actual self gratification wont keep you. whilst human beings open their eyes and rather comprehend what love and goodness is whilst they are in a position to look at all people and notice an equivalent see that god is in them too besides the fact that in the event that they dont believe the way you do, possibly then God will say, you're worth. And devoid of understanding many athiest are nearer to a god they dont believe in then a christian who pretends they're.

@;'My contacts, atheists, Christians, anyone here that have taken or taught Psychology?"

At the end of it all, psychology is about taking SELF - OUT - OF- IT.

That's the first thing people talk to their therapist about is WHAT?

    THEMSELVES.

Just think of an example; now, take the person out of it and just deal with the situation or problem.

    That's Psychology.

I quite enjoyed the psych classes I took in college. My favorites were in abnormal psych, early child development, and human sexuality. I assume you are talking the intro to psych though?
