How do you think Indian Policy and the Numbered Treaties affected Aboriginal women’s health and wellness?
Im taking a womens health class and this is a question asked, however we are not studying aboriginal culture or treaties. Hoping someone can give me a quick lesson on the Indian Policy and the Numbered Treaties and how they affected aboriginal people and how they affected there day-to-day life.

The Numbered Treaties (there were 11 in all) were devised and signed from 1871 to 1921. Only some of the Aboriginal tribes were approached.
The biggest boon to the Canadians was the land needed to build a national railroad or the richest farmland. The "Indians" were to receive "lands, hunting and fishing rights, money, annual payments, and assistance with education, medical care, and agricultural machinery." These promises were not always kept.
Instead of preserving the native culture, the effects of relocation to poor lands and the exposure to European diseases had a negative influence.
