British Shorthair Or Russian Blue Cat?
I want a low maintenance, quiet cat that is affectionate, independent and loving?
Any suggestions to which breed is the best suited?

what you want does not exist. unless you adopt a senior cat that just sleeps all day.

All cats have different personalities and there are no guarantees what your cat will end up like! I have 6 cats, 5 domestic short hair and one Russian Blue. The short hair cats are all completely different in their personalities, having said that, the males are so much more affectionate and loving. The female I have is aloof, doesn't like to be picked up (even though Ii have had her since she was 8 weeks old) and doesn't like other cats at all.
My Russian Blue is very quiet, does his own thing, likes cuddles but runs under the couch when anyone rings the doorbell or enters the house, whereas the male short-hairs stay firmly put and will socialise with anyone that comes in ! I don't know if that's breed specific behaviour or just differences in upbringing (male short-hairs have been with me since 3 weeks old as they were orphaned, Russian Blue with me since since he was 1yr old, again, a rescue)
All cats are different but i would definitely pick a male, as I find them to be way more affectionate and friendly to other cats (as long as they are neutered) than females.

All cats are low maintenance and independent...but it is all in a cats personality if they are loving and affectionate. My pick would be a British short-hair. But that's because I think they are adorable!

Either would work, although the Russian Blue tends to be less outgoing when strangers are in the house and they usually pick one or two people in the house to really bond with.
