Ya know, you /do/ have a best friend who is Wiccan. >.< The salt represents Earth. You don't "do" anything with there. It is a representation. You need something to represent Fire, Water, Air, and Spirit now. The mirrors on my alter are for spirit. It's also a possiblitiy to get representation of the certain gods and/or goddesses you worship. Fire is normally represented by a red candle. Water is represented by simply a cup of water or (if that's too dangerous in comparison to where your altar is) by a seashell or sand dollar or other stuff like that. Air is normally represented by an insense burner. If you don't have one, I have an extra that you can have until you buy your own. You already have Earth.

Other than that, you seem to be good. I'm jealous of your altar cloth. :(

The idea is have things that will help you focus.........a small table, one Candle, two cups, a plate for cakes, some Flowers, nice soft Music, your favorite beverage, two comfortable chairs, a separate table for any items that are big...........the idea is to be relaxed, and in a mood to receive the Spirit......

Write a Poem, sing, do a little dance, feel free.....perhaps make something to remember the evening, then, just have a good time...............

ETA: Salt is representative of the element of Earth. You can just leave it on your altar OR...substitue it for a small plant or a stone, unless you are performing ritual, in which then you would use it to purify your space.
