What kind of foods give you the most energy?

The kind of food that I could find easily at grocery stores or that I might have already at my house. Maybe combinations of foods like a smoothie?

I have a soccer game in a few hours and I want to eat something healthy that will give me lots of energy for the game.

    complex carbs. are the best. Porridge/brown rice/pasta. The wholefood nature of the food means you get a sustained energy boost without dips. It lasts and you can keep going for whole session/match.

    make it more interesting by adding raisens/dried apricots or better still fresh fruit.

    not glamorous but works every time.

    Usually what i eat before a hockey or soccer game is pasta, pasta gives alot of energy and carbs. Other foods include things like chicken, don't be eating heavy stuff like burgers though.
