Don't people realize that Virgin Galactic is making history?

Sir Richard is providing a curiosity to the rich, but much like early cell phones, the profits will be used to make space travel more affordable.Eventually,VG may become the Greyhound bus service to the planets, and privately owned colonies a reality.Much preferrable to the snails pace of government projects.Yet I see very little discussion of this company.

Update:

thanks, search first...i think it's the coolest thing happening on the planet, but no one I know has any interest..

yes yes yes. its been out there on the news and such places..... but I don't blame us.

I blame VG for having such a narrow advertising focus.

true thought........ the price for a ticket isn't exactly going to be affordable for just anybody.

"Tickets cost $200,000 and deposits start from $20,000"

I'm still waiting on http://www.galacticsuite.com/ to complete their space hotel in 2012.

and if virgin galactic could actually make it there and dock, then maybe they'd really solidify their place in "commercial" space and change the world and mankind.

oh and after they drop their prices and advertise to the masses.

    all in due time.

I'm sure the company is a little cautious at this early a stage in time.

When Branson gets a manned satellite to orbit the Earth three or four times and gets the crew back down alive, then we'll consider history being made. Until then it is talk and a few doubtless well executed plans.

But he's in the airline business. That is a recipe for bankruptcy if ever there was one.

  • Indeed. VG and other private firms will eventually do far more for the average person's future in space than NASA ever did.

  • I admire your vision and I agree that the future of space travel lies in the hands of private companies but don't for one minute think that Branson would be doing it if there wasn't a profit in it.
