    1. It really doesn't matter whether you are a ranger, airborne or leg infantry.

Being a ranger would give you an edge on land nav and fitness, but you can learn and practice land nav and get fit in an airborne unit or leg infantry unit.

You don't have to be airborne qualified to attend SFAS, if you pass SFAS, they will send you to airborne school.

yes, the army offers student loan repayment for federally backed student loans, not private student loans. They will pay up to $65,000 on student loans, you do NOT qualify for the GI Bill during the enlistment you use loan repayment.

I'm not in the Army, but since you have no answers. I'll help you out.

If you can't get 18x, then the next best thing would be to go with an Option 40 Ranger contract, with the plan to eventually move up to SF. If you can't get the 18x or Option 40, go Airborne Infantry, then move up to Rangers or SF.

I'm gonna warn you though, most candidates who make it through SFAS are guys with experience in the Army already, not 18x. so you may want to enlist 11x w/ Airborne, then eventually go to Ranger or SF selection instead of going straight 18x.

Not sure about the Student Loans.

    Good Luck

I'm not SF but I play one online, LOL. I'd suggest considering what region of the world you might like to specialize in and learning a language or two from there if you want to be SF. Since the groups are oriented regionally you'd be ahead there and the language training is a long, challenging part of SF. Can't hurt although you still have to get through SFAS & SFQ. As to the loan repayment that used to be an option and may still be, you have to look into it. Good luck.
