Scammed by Sky - or something more sinister ?
Has a quick and late look at my bank statement today and to my horror I found that Sky ( or some other party) had extracted £134.50 under the pretext of a Sky Subscription and with a phone number of 08702 404040 as collection details.
My payments to Sky have always been by Direct Debit and there has never been a problem, and I have not received or ever asked for any upgrades so this unexpected payment was queried.
I phoned the 08702 404040 number and was told Sky don't use this number any longer and was redirected to Sky 08442 41 41 41.
After talking to the rep I was told that Sky have no knowledge of this payment.
Question :- Is this a scam by others and have any other subscbribers had this happen ?

Ask your bank to investigate which organisation took this direct debit. The only organisations that can take direct debits from your account are ones which you have individually approved. Every organisation that uses direct debit follows the direct debit guarantee, which affirms that if you have had a payment that you're not aware of, or of an amount which you don't agree with then you have the right to be refunded by your BANK. So contact your bank and have the direct debit refunded.
This is the direct debit guarantee:

I would contact your bank and ask them to look into your account in detail. They may be able to find out who actually took the money out, and whether you will be able to do anything about it.
