If religions say if you are not apart of their religion you are going to hell, isn't everyone going to hell?

im agnostic so apparently im already doomed to hell, but ive heard that most religions state that if you are not a member of theirs, you are going to hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and people choose to not belong to more than one religion, can we say that all souls go to Hell?

Update:

speaking hypothetically of course

Be careful, most religions do not say that, Just the Big 4 book religions that try very hard to be universal, most religions don't evangelize, don't care if you follow their way, and some don't accept converts at all-why don't you come to Tir naNog? or go down the way to Valhalla they are much more fun than heaven or hell.

Depends on which one is right.

I have my beliefs on which is true, but the real answer to your question just simply lies in whether or not one or more religion is true. If they all are, yes, everyone is going to hell. But all religions being true makes about as much sense as Darth Vader pouring ocean water into a Brita filter. Most likely, only one set of spiritual beliefs is right.

there are two flaws in your reasoning

    1. most religions do not believe in a hell, just the eastern ones.

    2. There is not a hell so no.

Dear confused one, no; No one is going to hell or to heaven because none of them exist. So if as you claimed to be an agnostic or atheist, better get your believes in order so you do not have to ask what has obvious answers in our endeavor. Live long and prosper, (learn).

I dunno about other religions...but In the Roman Catholic Church you dont have to be in our religion to go to heaven...it is just easier. But if you are say...a budhist and you folowed your religion very well, you can go to heaven. If you dont have a religion, then if you just follow natural laws well (basically, you are a good person, kind, loving, charitable, etc.) you can go to heaven. If you lived a good life, you can go to heaven. If you never heard of the Gospel, of the Good News, then its not your fault you arent part of Christianity, so its OK.

BUT if you did hear of it and if people have given proofs about truth of our religion, but you still reject it, then ur in for trouble...

    Your logic is off.

Punishment for not following a particular religion will only be meted out if that particular religion were true.

Logically, all religions cannot be true. If one is true, the rest will be dealt with as such.

Hmm i wouldn't say that because Mahayana Buddhism for example believe in reincarnation so theoratically they won't go to hell and neither will the non-members.

:) Pretty much, yes, although there are religions which don't believe in hell.

  • Only if you have heard the Gospel and have been taught that Jesus is the Son of God and you do not believe. Many have not heard the Gospel.
