What's a deke? Is that short for anything?
Sometimes when I'm watching hockey on TV, the announcers will refer to a "deke". What does that mean?

Deke is a word but it was derived as a shortened form of decoy.

i think they call it a juke in football. it's when you fake out a defender or goalie, like you start to go to the left and then make a quick turn to the right so you can get around them or get the goalie out of position.

slang for a nice, successful stickhandling move. also referred to as a dangle.
