Information for car shopping.?

I am in the process of shopping for a brand new car and I really want to get something reliable. Reliable means different to a lot of people. I am looking into getting something that is cheap, won't have motor issues, hardware issues and interior issues (I used to own a Chevy Astro and that thing fell apart before my very eyes, everything with hinges became unhinged and broke off). Anyway, my question is, is there a site reference guide where I can read about a cars specifications? think Car Shopping for Dummies. I have gone to manufacturer's websites but:

Between my dad, myself and my brother we have owned a lot of different vehicles. Ill tell you if you are just looking for "The" most reliable vehicle regardless of being a sedan, suv, minivan etc then buy a Toyota Corolla. My brothers is 11 years old has over 250,000 and runs well without really doing anything other than changing the oil. Other Toyota, Honda and Nissan models are great for example, but the Corolla is definitely one of a kind vehicle, hands down.

Check out Edmunds.com they have a lot of information and user reviews as a reference.
