transmission info. on a 1977 ford f100?

my brother in law got a 1977 ford f100 custom and it is a 300 with a 3 on the tree transmission and i cant find out what kind it is i learned how to tell the difference of a c4 and c6 automatic but not the manual transmission so anyone out there to help me ? thanks

please read my question..i know the difference between the automatic but what size is a manual and how to tell what it is

    just a heavy duty 3 speed..probably a Borg-Warner..

    You'd need an adapter, but that could work. I have a 75 F100 that I bought as a project truck and I really wish the transmission was the problem with it. The motor is shot and it has no bed, be glad your not me.

    c-4 is square, c-6 has a bite taken out, talking about the oil pan
