how to work in australia?

im looking to work a ranch {cause that's about all im trained to do] for a year or so in australia. all the sites ive seen so far have been for dude ranches where you pay to work there. im looking for a regular job so i can get a little world experience. i don't want to become a citizen and im looking to do it around this time next year. if you know of someone who hires year round, or such like, or you know the costs of getting a work visa and how to proceed without a giant website, id be rather grateful. i hope this is a clear enough question, if its not say so and what u dont understand and i will try to clear it. thanx in advance for any responses.

There is a specific "young persons working holiday visa" available to those aged 18-30. It is designed to allow "young persons" to come to Australia for an extended holiday and to finance this by working whilst they are here. It is valid for 12 months (extendable in certain circumstances) but one of the conditions is that you may only work for any one employer for a maximum of 6 months. It is not designed as a career or training move, just to enable you to finance your trip. The work most backpackers get is in the hospitality/bar field, or maybe some office temping etc.

You will not find work on a "ranch" in Australia because we do not have ranches. We do have large cattle & sheep stations and perhaps your experience might get you a job on one of these.

In the first instance, follow this link to the very informative government site which contains all of the answers to all of your questions regarding visas, working, Australia in general etc:
