Would you change the NBA all star voting process?
Though it's not official: there's a strong chance that Iverson will be a starting guard in the Eastern Conference.
And a likelihood that McGrady will be a starting guard in the Western Conference.
I've actually read comments that state that McGrady and Iverson deserve their all star spots over the likes of Durant, Rondo, and others. Of course Durant is a forward that's beside the point.
However I'm a huge fan of the all star game, However I honestly don't understand how McGrady who hasn't played a minute of relevant basketball will be the starter of the All star west squad ahead of Nash, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Chauncey Billups, Tony Parker. Honestly I could name backup guards who deserve the spot.
I don't blame McGrady, and I certainly don't blame China because if anything it shows that they are loyal to the team they support even though I certainly didn't vote pistons players as candidates.
In the long run it's not a big deal just a exhibition game. However very unfair to deserving all stars that Iverson and McGrady are starters.

Yes I would. There are those who said that Iverson and McGrady does really deserves to be in the All-Star due to their performance from the previous years of their career which is absolutely true. But the fact is that All-Star games are being held annually or yearly, so the criterion of selecting a player or players would be based on the current season and not the previous years.
The outcome of the final lineup of the All-Star games is the fault of the NBA itself, since they put the names of the players in the ballots even if they are not active or not performing impressively on the current season.
Now, if they don't want to change the voting process, then, they should at least make a rule of who or what player to be included in the All-Star ballots.

Since the all star weekend is all about the fans, I think they should still vote the starters in, but, with some limitations. Like there should be a list of candidates deserving to be an all star not just any player.
Stern gave signs that there wouldn't be any changes though. I just hope McGrady does what his cousin did back in the 2003 all star game.
Vince Carter relinquished his starting spot to make way for Michael Jordan's final appearance in an all star game. A pure class act from Vinsanity.

my theory is that the coaches and gms select all the allstars then let the fans pick the starters after that, so in that case no one misses out because fans voted on someone thats not deserving through haveing a choice of 60 players, instead well be choosing out of those who were selected therefore we keep the fans involved and no deserving player misses out

I would have the coaches pick the starting 5, the players pick the next 5, and the fans pick the 11th and 12th players

yeah, i would agree to change the process
a lot of fans are ignorant and misinformed
i like what Rey Allen's idea 50-50, 50% from the fans and 50% from media and players (though i would prefer not to include the media in the process)

i think it should be by stats because guys like Kevin Durant, Rajon Rondo, Kevin Martin, Monta Ellis are underrated and the stats are off the charts

No...I think its fair, let the fans choose who they want to see in the all star game. Its just an EXHIBITION GAME.
