    You need to get rid of the fractions. You can do this by multiplying each side by a number that is a multiple of both 6 and 7. The least common multiple is 42, so let's use that.

    42*[(x + 6)/6] = 42*[1 - (x + 2)/7]

    7(x + 6) = 42 - 6(x + 2)

    7x + 42 = 42 - 6x - 12

    7x + 42 = 30 - 6x

    Next, add 6x to each side and subtract 42 from each side. This puts all the x terms on one side and the numbers on the other.

    6x + 7x + 42 - 42 = 30 - 6x + 6x - 42

    13x = -12

    Now divide by 13 to get x by itself.

    13x/13 = -12/13

    x = -12/13

    Plug in that value to make sure you're correct.

    (x + 6)/6 = 1 - (x + 2)/7

    (x + 6)/6 = [7 - x - 2]/7 <-- make the denominator the same

    7(x + 6) = 6(7 - x - 2)

    7x + 42 = 42 - 6x - 12

    7x + 6x = 42 - 42 - 12

    13x = -12

    x = -12/13

    I hope that helped =) And if I made a mistake, I'm so sorry!

    (3x-5)/4 +x/2 = a million/3 {(3x-5)*2 + (x*4)}/8 = a million/3 (6x-10+4x)/8 = a million/3 10x - 10 = 8/3 10x= (8/3)+10 10x= 38/3 x= 38/30 x= 19/15 or a million.26 * refers to multiplication / refers to branch
