How can I clean up sticky sugar syrup from my stove?
Trying to cook toffee, the pan got knocked and a lot of half syrup half toffee got spilled, and went everywhere. It is not hard enough to scrape up. But it is too sticky and thick to wash off with a wet sponge.
What would be a good chemical to use, to get it off? especially in the grooves around the hotplates?

Don't know if its available where you are but "GOO" works for lots of things like you describe.

Those are some of the best cleaners for gooy items that I have ever run across. They just work and make cleaning goo type messes very easy. (And no, I don't work for them! LOL - just like the product)

You can also use a razor to scrape it first.
Get a terry towel..Dip it in boiling water and lay it on the spot put a few drops of oil down first. This will loosen what is left leave it sit till the rag is warm. You may have to repeat this several times.

For a cleaning product try anything that has 'gum' on the label - same properties.
The best solution is to freeze it and it will be easy to remove - freon spray if you can find one - just apply ice if you can't.

I would scrap what I could off but then a brillo pad should get the rest up. Good luck! you could also try a degreaser...that takes up everything!

scrape as much as you can.
make a mix of baking soda and detergent and with a foam pad start cleaning , use the one that has the rough side

my suggestion would be to use Pepsi/coke over it..i know it might sound funny bt here i see ppl use it for cleaning toilets too..rather thn using sweeps...
btw an experiment done on Pepsi shows tht a teeth could get dissloved in it within a week, its very strong..
