Best player in the NHL?

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, or Alexander Ovechkin?

Or if you think it's someone else, list them.

Are goalies eligible? If so, none of your choices even make my top 5.

My Top 5 (if goalies are eligible)

    5. Ryan Miller

    4. Roberto Luongo

    3. Evgeni Nabokov

    2. Marty Brodeur

    1. Miikka Kiprusoff

My Top 5 (if goalies aren't eligible)

    5. (even though I mega-loathe the guy) Alexander Ovechkin

    4. Alexander Semin

    3. Sidney Crosby

    2. Ryan Getzlaf

    1. Evgeni Malkin

Source(s): A week or 2 ago, somebody wanted to know who I thought the best players in the league were because I had called Crosby, Ovechkin, and Jarome Iginla "overrated". This is my answer not only to your question but also to that person's criticism.

Hard to choose between Crosby and Ovechkin.

Crosby is a great leader and knows how to win

Ovechkin is the most talented in the league and knows how to score

    Overall, I say Ovechkin

I love all these idiots who put glass bodied russians as their top players. NEWS FLASH, OFFENSIVE OUTPUT =/= YOU BEING THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE. It's about playing a complete game, not just putting up a point per game. Guys like semin, gaborik, and kovalchuk are automaticly off the list simply because they don't play each aspect of the game. They have attitude issues, don't play defense, and with the exception of kovalchuk are all made of glass and get injured quite often.

    @Judge Ghis

I don't know how you can put Kipper as your top goalie considering he hasn't had a consistent year since 2004. As of right now, Ryan Miller is the best goalie. End of discussion. Followed by Bryzgalov and Broduer.

Your forwards are a bit off too. Semin has an "its all about me" attitude and is too injury prone to be a top five forward. Malkin is in a slump right now and doesn't know enough english to be considered a vocal leader.

I can't believe no one has put up Jarome Iginla as their top player yet. He is the definition of complete player. He can score goals and set up plays. He's physical, drops the gloves often, and excels in the defensive aspect of the game. And if that weren't enough, the guy is a big time lead by example, vocal leader. The only guys who come close to that are Ovechkin and Crosby. The only knock against those two is that they're very immature. Plus crosby isn't nearly big or physical enough.

Without a question the 2x Most Valuable Player Alex Ovechkin. Nobody in the league today comes close to his game. They don't give away mvp just to anyone u know, he is the best period.

Gaborik. He is on a team that can't score. He is their whole offense. Put Gaborik on a line with Malkin or Crosby and he's a 60-maybe 70 goal scorer. The guy as almost 30 and every night teams game plan around one guy

    SIDNEY CROSBY PERIOD

this guy has the potential to hit 50 goals in and 80 assists in one year not saying he will do it this year but in the future he has potential while u wont see ovechkin hit anything near 80 assists

Right now I would say Alexander Ovechkin. He has the best +/- and is second in goals and total points.

    Skater: Ovechkin

since he entered the game, he's lead the league in goals and has been up there in assists (and top 2 or 3 in pts i believe). he's a leader (for all you crosby fans out there, please note the ovi where's a C too). he plays w/ incredible intensity, he can hit, and he's incredibly honest and interesting. as he's shown recently, he can also be one hell of a playmaker (7 assists in his last 3 games)

goalie: either Miller, Kippur, or Marty

each of them are great (Lundquist and and Luongo are only slightly bellow these three on my list).

you really can't compare skaters to goalies, since they do very different things and play the game very differently

Ovechkin is like a visionary - he's breaking new ground in the way the game is played.

you cannot compare Crosby to Ovechkin, Crosby is more of a playmaker (just look at his assists) while Ovechkin and Malkin are both snipers.
