How do I stop the static on my sirius radio?

I have changed the station a few times and reset it. It seems ok but as I drive around the static comes in and out. Sometimes I get 2 stations playing at once. Could the roof racks be a problem?

Update:

Tammy, you goof....of course I paid for it. lol ;) Thanks.

Depends if you have an older satellite radio through either XM or Sirius, and said receiver has a built-in FM modulator. Usually, it is difficult to have a clean connection if a stronger terrestrial station is nearby the frequency you chose to use to broadcast Sirius XM on your car radio. I usually use either 88.1 or 107.3 and flip back and forth whenever I get static.
