  • Can someone help with real estate law and taxes?

Recently I became aware of a situation where my father (not a good person) claimed he put his house in my brother's name in order to receive help from the state. My brother is not very knowledgeable about this stuff and as my father is sick just assumed he was helping him out and he would get the house when he passed. When I asked about it, my brother knows nothing about it and has no paperwork. He said he signed something but was told by my father that he (father) would take care of anything that was financial. There were no lawyers or relators present.I asked several questions and my brother has no answers. My brother has asked repeatedly for any paperwork and gotten nothing. My father does not even have a will. Please help us. I foresee a huge mess with this. My father is a selfish, sneaky person who would think nothing of taking advantage of us. He and my brother share the same name and I think he's using his name for a variety of things. We have tried to stay away from him but he is so manipulative.

1- How do we know if he's paying the taxes on the place?

2-How can we find out if he's paying the mortgage of if he signed for some type of reverse mortgage?

3-Is it possible to just transfer ownership of a home without the person selling it paying taxes on it, or the person receiving it paying some type of gift tax?

4- What fees could my brother end up owing as I don't think the house is going to be worth spit?

5- How do we get his name off of the house if in fact it is on?

  • Any female ever felt a feeling in their upper abdoman that feels just like a baby moving....?

but they are not pregnant? I am 49 going through Perimenopause. My husband had a vasectomy many years ago and I'm not having an affair. Over the past 2-3 weeks I have had a fluttering, and muscle movement in my abdomen that feels exactly the same as a baby at about 6 months. It comes and goes and is right below the center of my rib cage. It's not gas and it doesn't change where it is. Could it have to do with my uterus or possibly the artery that passes that through that area? I have gained weight despite trying to lose it over the past 4 months.

  • Question about divorce law and desertion?

If a wife discovers that her husband has been spending money in brothels and decided to leave and file for divorce, would she be considered as deserting her family if she leaves because he won't. She has asked him to leave, but he refuses and there is so much tension that it's not good for the children. In order to alleviate the stress and the fighting she has offered to leave and stay with a friend but she is afraid that the courts will think she left just to leave, and award him custody. What is the law on this subject?

  • Credit Card fraud - What happens if you make a purchase and then call the company ?

I know someone who purchased quite a bit of merchandise/services and then called the company and claimed he lost his card and someone must have used it. The company dismissed the charges. I think this is horrible and the money was owed for the services. If he was caught I am assuming charges could be brought against him. Does anyone know the penalty for this?

  • How to configure my computer to an earlier date?

I downloaded an update of Java and now I have a mess. I'm not sure if it was a virus or just something that is designed to be incredibly annoying. I have pop-ups everywhere. It's shutting down my yahoo page. It's basically a mess. I have a little red head (iminent) all over. I removed it in my programs but the problem is still here. A while ago someone showed how me how I could get the computer back to an earlier date and I can't remember how. Please help. Thank you!!

  • How do you turn a java update off?

Everytime I turn on the computer it gets bogged down trying to update Java. I have allowed it to update but it keeps doing it. It's happening on two of my computers. I have been denying it lately but it slows down my startup. I'm not sure if it's just not downloading properly or if it's some type of virus. Thank you.

  • What size iPad is the best...16GB,32GB or 64GB?

I'm purchasing this for my daughter for grad school. She needs it for classes and has to download over $800 worth of text books to start. She is in medical school. Will the 32GB be too small? Or will it be obsolete by the time she even gets close to 64GB?

  • What are the benefits of OFA vs PennHips?

I have a new border collie (12 weeks). The breeder did not test for CEA or hips which my other breeders have always done prior to my purchasing them. Can someone tell me what is required for each (eyes and hips), what age they are done, and whether OFA or Penn is better. Thank you.

  • Anyone familiar with this Variable Annuity and is it a good investment?

It was recently recommended to me to cash out all my Exxon Stock and invest in Allianz Vision Variable Annuity. It guarantees an 8% annual increase with 2% quarterly for up to 30 years. If the contract value is higher than the current 8% annual increase, it automatically locks in quarterly at that rate and resets the 8% annual increase equal to the higher contract value and applies the simple interest to this higher value. I am a firm believer of if it sounds too good to be true it is and I'm wondering if this is a scam. The financial advisor stated that the minimum investment was $25,000 and it could not be withdrawn for 7 years. Is this a reasonable investment for retirement? Is this a reputable name? Would moving money from stocks to a variable annuity be wise? I am not savvy in this field and feel like I could be easily taken advantage of. Thank you for your help.

  • How do I make sure someone stays permanently offline on Yahoo chat?

For years I was able to put people permanently offline before deleting them from my friend's list and i never had to worry about them again. On the new program this feature is a nightmare. People I haven't talked to in years are commenting on my profile pic or sending messages. Apparently all of them see me back online even though I didn't change their status. When I went into the status feature, I realized that even after I went through every name in my address book and switched them to permanently offline, the very next time I signed in it switched them all back to available. If I delete them from my contact list do they still have access to my account as I haven't completely deleted them from that. It seems that I can do all I want but until they delete me from their llists they have all the control. I feel like I have no privacy what-so-ever once I accept them as a friend. Ironically, people still in my friend's list remain offline until I manually change it, but no one I removed from it.

Also, I access yahoo chat through my bb, my computer at work as the web-based version, and at home on the downloaded version. Is it possible that they are in some conflict with each other? Thank for your help.

  • Is anyone familiar with internet programs such as Reputation.com?

Does anyone know anything about the programs that are out there that are designed to remove your personal information from the collective sites that have all your personal business to offer anyone who wants to look for it. (Mylife.com, reunion.com, classmates.com, etc) Do they work or even help? Are they worth the money? Do they only block your information from being found as long as you pay the site, or is it deleted permanently? I know there are several but since you have to pay for them, does anyone have any personal experience with them? After deleting my account on some I realized it only deleted my access not my information. Is there any better program that actually works to help eliminate some of our "footprints?" Thanks!

  • How do I stop updates from reocccuring?

I recently ran an updates on my computer for windows and ended up with 19 updates. The problem is they never seem to finish updating and I'm beginning to think I picked up something I shouldn't have. When I shut the computer down it says "updating 19 updates" do not shut down. I don't. The next time it does the same thing over and over. I have started shutting down the computer as I'm fearing what it is actually doing. Any ideas? I have AVG only on the computer and I did run that. Nothing came up.

  • What does this mean on a computer scan?

I ran a scan on my computer and it recommended "disabling administrative share" and "autorun." What does this mean and is it a good idea? It said my computer would run faster and protect it from viruses better.

  • What's the best way to become a pilot as a career?

My son would like to become a pilot. He will be entering high school next year. Can anyone give me any information on what his best course would be to have the most opportunity to succeed in this career? Should he go to college? Air Force? College and Air Force ROTC then onto the Air Force? No college and find a flying school? etc. Also is there any type of situation where a teenager could work at an airport or even volunteer to get some experience with planes? Would that benefit him? Thank you for any help you can give us to guide him.

  • What do you do with an old computer that's over 6 yrs old?

I don't know anything about the inner workings of a computer but I'm afraid to just throw it out. We do have personal information and pics on the hard drive and I've heard even if I could delete it (which I can't bc I can't it to turn on) people can still get to it. I hate to just throw it out if there's someplace they can use the parts. I'm not trusting of the man who I was taking my computers to be fixed to as I realized the last time I took it in to get a virus removed, I found in my history that he had gone into my hidden pic files, opened private pics and then made a backup copy of them for his own personal viewing pleasure. So I don't have anyone to ask. Thank you.

I have changed the station a few times and reset it. It seems ok but as I drive around the static comes in and out. Sometimes I get 2 stations playing at once. Could the roof racks be a problem?

  • Do children with autism have difficulty with the concept of time or identifying the order of events?

I am a special education teacher that has worked with children for 25 years. Because of the dynamics of our program which is fully inclusive, I have become a jack of all trades and a master of none. I have been debating with my supervisor for years that our reading assessments are not fair to children with autism as besides the word rec. and fluency component, the comprehension is based on an oral retelling only. My students with autism have a very difficult time with this for various reasons and I feel it's an unfair assessment of their understanding. I recently heard a comment that people with autism are unable to truly discern time accurately, (ex something that happened this morning, last week or last year). I was thinking if that was true it would explain why there is such difficulty it ordering events along with the obvious language/communications issues. However, the flip side of that is that are very focused on their schedules and the sequence of their day. They know immediately if something is out of order, so I'm thinking maybe not. Any "autism experts" out there who can answer this for me? Thanks for your help!!
