How do you turn a java update off?

Everytime I turn on the computer it gets bogged down trying to update Java. I have allowed it to update but it keeps doing it. It's happening on two of my computers. I have been denying it lately but it slows down my startup. I'm not sure if it's just not downloading properly or if it's some type of virus. Thank you.

    Hi Miss,

You can disable Java from automatically checking for updates by doing the ff:

    1) Open Control Panel

    2) Click/Open Java

    3) Select Update tab

    4) Uncheck 'Check for Updates Automatically'

    5) Click OK

    Hope that works for you.
