How to Extend your Car Antenna or Increase it's effectiveness.?
Trying to Figure out How to Either Extend a Car antenna If it's possible to increase reception or Atleast increase the effectiveness of my current antenna which is Roughly 1.5ft outside my car and about 2 ft inside the the car.
It's on my roof.... it's not electric and it's fully extended. I thought for sure there was a way I could make it longer.
I've looked all over Radio Shack.. Before I Posted.. there is no Antenna Booster For a "car".
There are Plenty of Cell phone boosters. But nothing I have seen for AM/FM
The Radio is Brand new and it has HD built in. I'd just like to get a little bit more out of it. I was thinking maybe I could build something.

is it electric extend type? if so it might be stuck and not extending all the way so take out and see why. if not clean it up with real fine sand paper or steel wool , they get oxidized and have a layer of junk on them, that might help. if its all the way extended now you can usually just unscrew it from its base real easy and put a new rod in .

you can get an antenna booster from a store like radio shack...it will require removing the radio but its really the only way you'll get better reception without replacing the radio itself. 1.5ft is plenty long to receive fm frequencies.

Get one of those big ones like you see on trucks or on the old style wrangler jeeps.
