I want to upgrade my computer processor but i dont know which one to buy?

my specs are

Athlon 64 (V) 3400+ 2.4 GHz socket 939

ATI Radeon Xpress 200

4 gig ram

200gig hard drive'

500 watts power supply

    The key spec is the socket 939. Your processor will have to fit that.

    Reasonable choices are dual core (Athlon 64 x2) processors in the 3800+ to 4800+ range. That will better than double your CPU power. Socket 939 processors are no longer being made, however, so finding one is a matter of ebay hunting or other similar used item sources. Going rates are $50-$300, depending on speed.

    You might have to update your motherboard/computer's BIOS to handle the faster processors. Make SURE you don't get a socket AM2 processor by mistake. Some of the same Athlon 64 x2 designations apply to both socket types. Anything 5000+ is exclusively in the AM2 line.

    unlike john c said you can tell you said socket 939 just go to a computer store online and see what socket 939 processors you can afford and get that one myself i prefer intel but you'd need another motherboard for that

    None of those specs matter. What matters is which processors your motherboard supports!
